That's what it was like for my Deafheaven record. Got it in the mail almost a month after i saw it at the merch booth

 

Vagrant had copies up until a month and a half ago. Then they had a big sale and it sold out. I was loafting on it myself and missed out.

 

very bummed I miss this :(

 

The Fire has long been high on my wish list, it’s my second favorite SF record, but now that I can have it I really wish it was remastered or re-recorded or whatever it is it needs - that album is hard to listen to.

 

Oh nice, Vagrant put up Silent Treatment as well. Love that album.

What's the longest you've ever waited for a vinyl record to arrive?

I'm almost at a full calendar year with Laura Jane Grace's At War With the Silverfish!

Background info and (rough) delay timeline:

We submitted the album and requested test pressings from the original plant way back in July 2021. These were received and approved in November 2021, at which time we were given a rough ETA of late March 2022.

In March, we were told they were running behind schedule, but the plant assured us that we would absolutely have the vinyl in hand in time to send out pre-orders. In mid-May the plant alerted us that their machine had broken down, but would be up and running soon, so we pushed the pre-order into June based on that information.

Unfortunately, they missed the next deadline and continued to push back the completion date because of multiple issues with their 10" press. At one point they said they were harvesting pieces from a 7" press to make it work, but any time it was "fixed" the repairs didn't seem to last.

On top of that, we couldn't get a clear answer about our position in line for when the press was operational, so we were unable to determine a new ship date.

While our fingers were crossed that the original, US-based plant would come through for us, we were eventually able to negotiate space at an alternative pressing plant in Europe (a huge feat since manufacturing lead times for most indies are 8+ months for new releases at this point).

Initially given a tentative eta of mid-September for the vinyl, we received the above-mentioned tracking information today so I wanted to share the good news.

The jackets/packaging were sent directly to our warehouse from the original plant earlier this month, so we'll assemble copies at our office once the 10"s arrive and send orders out as soon as we can.

PSA- Moon is Down is en route from Europe. Got an email this week. They're expecting them to arrive end of September, early October and ship out ASAP after that.

 

Currently

This Wild Life "Ever Blossom" (ordered August 13th of last year) the pressing plant they went with screwed them over and had to go with another plant. Now the variant I ordered has an eta of January 2023.

Closure In Moscow "Pink Lemonade" (ordered October 1st of last year from Bird's Robe in Australia) I ordered their first EP along with it and I just got it a week and a half ago. It sounds amazing, and was worth the wait. Haven't seen any updates on the full length.

 

If One Eleven Records is re-printing their back catalogue, maybe we can finally get This Day and Age's "The Bell and the Hammer" on vinyl.

TIL that Green Day’s “Warning” has been out of print for awhile and is not cheap. Guess I have to wait for an anniversary pressing.
