Does Discogs calculate values for stuff that hasn't been sold before? Like test pressings? I own a number of test presses which are $500+ each easily but not sure if that gets reflected in their calcs.

Would never sell off a chunk of it. Most of the stuff I buy I truly enjoy listening to. I have maybe 20 records I’d consider selling.

Not that I’m aware of. Which is one of the multiple reasons that even though these estimations are fun, they’re definitely meant to be taken with a grain of salt haha. AFAIK they’re based on transactions that have occurred through the Discogs platform, which obviously cuts out an enormous portion of vinyl sales

It’s always funny seeing a record with a min, med, and max all of like 249.99 and you just know it’s cause one desperate soul gave in to a scalper and paid a price no one else in their right mind would, but because one single person did it’s what all the sellers feel entitled to

 

Is there a way to sort your collection by value? I’d be interested to see what in my collection is worth the most (and how attached I may be to it). Doubt I have anything worth all that much tbh.

 

Yeah, but I think you have to do it from the Discogs site and not the app

 

Yes, on desktop you can click Max or Median to find what your most valuable records are. If you look up to the top left, you can see the range in value of your total collection.

 

This was $300 in January. Nuts.

Some of you have some crazy valuable collections. Can this stuff be insured?

 

I think some people have the ability to put it on a rider to their renter's insurance, but I have never tried.

The Newbury Comics /750 copy of Turn on the Bright Lights I have is valued at like $450 max which is pretty sweet considering I randomly found it while browsing at Providence Place for like $25 over a month after it dropped.
