I normally only order records from Bull Moose or Amazon.

 

Amazon is pretty good at vinyl usually. What I’ve noticed is they put the record in a regular mailer and then they put that mailer in a bigger box. In terms of the records you’re buying specifically, they’re just like any other retailer for buying music. It’s not much different from buying a video game or anything else. Also, there’s specific groups on reddit and even websites that are devoted to sharing vinyl deals from amazon as well as other major retailers.

I’ve noticed that I’ve been kinda forced to buy from more retailers recently. It’s weird to think how much I purchased from regular people for the first few years of my collecting. I miss being able to buy 3-4 records at once from someone. I’ve made one purchase so far this year from someone that wasn’t an online store.

I love using Amazon for vinyl. I've had good experiences.

Just bought Circia Blue Sky Noise 10 year/The Amulet and NJs O'God off of merchnow. First purchase made this year!

 

Order probably 95% of vinyl from Amazon. The rare times I’ve had an issue Amazon has quickly shipped replacements.

With all this downtime lately I've been trying to organize/alphabetize my 7" vinyl records - ugh, it's a bigger pain in the ass than sorting comic books.

Anyway, I'm gearing up to sell off a ton of records. Here's a gem for anyone interested: Phoebe Bridgers Killer 7" vinyl

 

I made an offer on a discogs listing, and the seller rejected it and then removed the listing... is that normal? The sad thing is I was willing to pay the original price, it was just a little higher than what I wanted so I figured I’d give it a shot. I hope it’s not lost forever now

 

Is the seller a brick and mortar record store? They may have sold it in the interim.

 

Tbh I don’t know how to tell, since the message didn’t list the seller’s name and now the item is gone so I can’t check. I had kept an eye on it for months though, and they declined and removed it within a couple hours of me sending the offer, so it would have to be perfect timing for it to have been purchased at that moment.

Mostly I’m just filled with deep regret that I didn’t go ahead and buy it lmao

 

i hate 7 inches, haha. such a pain to play because you have to keep getting up

 

Per the Amazon topic earlier, I'd say about 55 to 60% of my vinyl purchases have come from Amazon and the only problems I've ever experienced were on two occasions they straight up sent me the wrong vinyl, but once notified, they send the correct one within a day or two - even if I haven't mailed them back the wrong one (I think you have 30 days to do so).

Speaking of Amazon..Has anyone been purchasing vinyl during this crisis online? I haven't ordered one since this all went down,

I would assume production, deliveries are experiencing delays?

I actually messaged my local record shop that has been closed for a month to see if they'd consider doing curbside pick-ups and/or mail delivery and they said they are considering it.

 

I bought Louder Now with Prime and it came in 2-3 days. The only problem was they sent me two copies of the album lmao.

 

I was gonna order new NFG and 1975 through my local shop but both have been delayed so they might be running normal by then.

 

I just ordered Cassino’s album through Bad Timing and ordered Local Honey and two Gaslight albums off Amazon. Don’t have prime. I expect both orders to take a few weeks.

 

you know I always wondered how they did splatters and stuff and this just makes...too much sense.

 

Record Store Day Pushed Again, Will Be 3 Events Later This Year

 

Just carved a hole bigger for the first time. The records I have where the hole is too small are too valuable of pressings for me to have ever braved an attempt, but my copy of the latest Trace Mountains record felt replaceable enough to try. Turned out great, way easier than I thought it’d be

 

Has anyone else noticed an uptick in damaged vinyl packaging since all of the COVID stuff really kicked up? Just got my 5th record in the mail in the last month and literally every single one has had a bent, torn, or worn away sleeve haha
