There is a bypass, which I was using to route the sound through an external preamp. The fatal flaw of the AT line (60, 120, maybe others?) is even the bypass has some circuitry that truncates the high frequencies. So you could hook up a $2000 audiophile preamp and still get significantly compromised sound. Once I ripped out the preamp circuit board and soldered on a new RCA cable that goes directly to my external preamp, the treble was *far* more present during playback. There are long threads about this topic regarding the LP120 on some other boards. It's pretty incomprehensible why they designed it this way, but it is what it is.

Agree that a craigslist Technics 1200 is a great option for anyone in a big city with a good used market. I'm not so fortunate, so my modified LP120 will do (I really like everything about this TT at its price point, after removing the preamp).

I personally love my AT-LP120 with KRK Rokit 5 speakers.

Just got Foals- What Went Down on 180g vinyl and it sounds superb.

Definitely worth the investment down the road to go to AT.

Got The Color Spectrum in today. Really nice set and sounds excellent so far. Records seem heavy weight; maybe 180g.

Looks like PVRIS put up another pressing of their Acoustic EP. Too bad it sold out.

 

I’m so bummed about this. It was still available in the AUS store when I looked, but they upcharged it like triple from the US store so I couldn’t justify that with international shipping.

 

I'm more mad that there was no announcement about this. These were going for like $100 on eBay, not willing to even do the $45 you had mentioned from AUS.
