Ordered Meteora. Still bummed out

I don't own either, but both are well reviewed from my quick search.

 

I was about to throw down for Wildflowers once but then I heard he was going to repress it with the second album that was supposed to originally come out with it.

Also, This December was high on my list but BTR did good work coming through on that one.

 

Ditto. I'm like trying to prioritize some other pre-orders and things because I know for sure I'm getting this, but it's taking forever. It's been like a month and a half since they said it's here, ugh!

I had a $150 gift card and bought both box sets of The Replacements (Twin/Tone years and Sire years), so I have a lot of listening to do. Tim is probably my favorite.

 

I just couldn't bring myself to spend $32 on the colored variants. I got both titles for the same price as one of the colored. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the colors they chose too. Regardless, it's nice to finally own those two albums on wax.

 

of course Enjoy The Ride (eww) is pressing that. I don't like that album really at all anyhow. I enjoy just about every other project Craig Owens is involved in though.

 

I am in talks with a couple of people on Craigslist about some vintage record player consoles:

RCA Record Player Console

They have both agreed to lower prices than what is listed in the links (around $50 each). Does anyone know anything about these? Are they even worth considering? I can't find much info on them anywhere online.

Also, grabbed Waxahatchee, BBNG, Bedouine from the store this month. Cant wait to hear them, as well as the National and whatever the Classic is this month from them (which, side note, the John Lee Hooker and Archie Shepp records are both just stellar as well).

 

Personally, I would avoid something like this. Though it might sound easy to have an all-in-one system and be good to go, there are way too many drawbacks.

First of all, both these cabinets need a new needle. Sounds easy at first, but I am pretty sure that you will not find them to be readily available. Your only chance would be to find a place that stocks NOS (new old stock), but I don't think these will come cheap.
The apparent lack of a counterweight and a proper headshell pretty much also rules out the option of changing the cart, so you will be stuck with trying to find a needle that fits. Good luck bringing that cabinet into a store to have them check what needle might fit.

Secondly, the real trouble will start once one of the components will start acting up. How do you find out what is faulty? How do you even access the amp inside these things? Do you know how to service speakers? If not, it will not be easy to find someone who can service those things, and if you happen to find someone, it will definitely not come cheap. And if one of the components does not work anymore, the whole thing becomes pretty muc useless, except maybe as a piece of furniture.

Bought Nada Surf - The Proximity Effect on vinyl at a local shop. $14. What a nice find.

 

My signed copy of Damn came in, love it. Also snagged a copy of Foo Fighters' "Wasting Light" for like 10 bucks on Amazon. Only trails Colour and Shape as my favorite album of theirs.

 

my band is listening to the test pressing of our record tonight! can't wait to see how it sounds!

Not sure if anyone is a Together Pangea fan in here but I just dropped $100 for their ultimate vinyl package pre-order at Pledge Music cause I love the band so damn much.

Would strongly recommend to check their new singles ("Money On It" and "Better Find Out") out on Spotify or iTunes!
