Does anyone know if using a vinyl record frame to display the record does any damage to the record itself? I didn't think so, but have read some conflicting reports online.
Would love to use a few to display my records but don't want to cause any damage to the vinyl.

    Thanks!

  2. VMP is good. I've hopped on and off it a few times.

Had a great experience last year where I signed up cus they were gonna have a color pressing of JEFFERY in their VIP stote and then Nina Simone was the monthly. Did three months and also ended up with Person Pitch and Main Source's Breaking Atoms. It ruled.

I meant I went on vacation so I hit up a bunch of stores AND had a 20% code (which was one time use). Sorry!

i always take the record out of the sleeve first just to be safe.

Also how are you going to spin in if it's in a frame?

It takes maybe 20 seconds to take the record out of the frame. I wouldn't frame all of my records, just 4 at a time. And when I want to listen to the one that is framed then I switch it up. But I have had the frames sitting there for months (they aren't expensive) without hanging them up. Part laziness, part hesitance to potentially damaging the record

Yea, that's an easy enough solution!

Alright, just grabbed an Audio Technica LP-120. Know it's simple, but whatever, seems to be the gold standard of introductory players. Anybody have max-$150 recs on speakers to go with it? Also, since the 120 has a preamp built in, all I need is the player and the speakers correct? Or do I still need a receiver as well?

You would need either powered speakers or non powered speakers and a receiver (to send power to speakers). Phono preamp turns the phono signal to a line level signal, still need to amplify from there which is where your powered speakers or receiver come in handy.

I've gotten multiple receivers on craigslist for under 50 bucks. One was actually 10 bucks. They're older, but work great for my turntable as I don't actually need 7.1 surround sound or whatever comes on a lot of new receivers nowadays. You could start looking there if you're on a budget decide to go that route.

A Fever You Can't Sweat Out is now up at HT for their exclusive.

    Edit: it's limited to 2000.

  14. Yeah, for sure look on your local swap & shops and craigslist for vintage receivers with phono inputs. The LP-120 is a decent starter turntable but i've heard it's phono stage is bleh.

Perfect. Appreciate the heads-up. A close friend told me exactly what you did, so I trust it if two people agree.

Also, this has turned into such an investment for me and I'm fine with it. I've gone from zero to 115 records in a little under a year, springing for a "nice" setup. i just love it so much. The vice that I replaced drinking with, lol

And that's why you always leave a note.

I picked this up last year - not from Walmart but found it on some other 'discount' esque site - such a great grab.
"Arrows" though.... I gotta get my hands on that!
