my dad has been getting back into record collecting for the first time in several decades. he's been asking for advice on modern setup stuff, buying via Discogs, sleeves and protection, etc., which has all somehow culminated in him sending me a video showing that he secured a copy of Copeland's YAMS (a favorite for both of us and one i don't even have). needless to say my advice has paid off and i'm extremely jealous.

I've been spending a lot of time checking out the albums I missed in '23 since we are in a little bit of a new music lull. One that really stood out is Heavenward's Pyrophonics. I need to own this on vinyl asap. It's exactly the type of sound I dig a lot. I really don't know what I was thinking when I first listened to this last year. Just solid from beginning to end.

Also got into Soul Blind (album from '22). Just give me all of the shoe gaze / 90's alternative rock music. I'll never tire of it.

I've significantly cut back my vinyl purchases this year. Don't know how often I'd actually listen to the live Saosin album but I do love that cover
