The new wiki album was super short as well.

I was more so referring to albums full of songs that clock in around 2 mins or shorter, not number of tracks on the album.

 

One gripe I have w this album that might fade away w subsequent listens is I think the mix could be tweaked a little just in terms of how quiet some of the beats are

especially on “Taking Trips”

I suppose the quieter mixed beats adds to the whole aesthetic he and Kenny are going for but on some songs it could be a biiiiiit louder imo

Has anyone written a review of this yet with the headline “Vince Staples’ Bleak Summer”? Feels like a layup.

 

I haven't listened to Vince much in a while, but this has really been hitting the spot. I've been listening all weekend.

 

Love this, maybe my favorite Vince album front to back. Very reminiscent of I Don't Like Shit-era Earl and pretty much infinite replay value based on its runtime. I can understand being disappointed if all you want are bangers, but this is way more up my alley. The lyrics are still there, the production is on point, it all just works for me. Glad he did something new.

(And then I revisited Some Rap Songs, which is probably my favorite rap album since Yeezus.)

 

Second verse of Sundown Town is incredible.

Think at least once a day since this came out I've put this on and next thing I know its played through 3 times, loving it

 

Heavy agree, second verse of Sundown Town is my favorite part of probably the whole record. Dude just has an incredible flow

 

The meh responses in this thread are absolutely nuts to be. This is phenomenal. Count me as one of the people who can listen on a loop.

 

Put this on during a run yesterday, really enjoyed it. I want to spend more time with it, but it's grabbing me quicker than FM! did.

Right, like as much as I’ve been loving this record I kinda wouldn’t want it to be any longer. Vince was clearly trying to set a specific vibe, the alternate scenario where we got more music is likely virtually the same as the one where you just repeat the album haha. If we go another few years with no music I’ll eat my words but the record’s only been out four days, if you’re already bored of the record then the length is not the problem

 

yeah I'm less bothered by the length of this than the fact that most of the songs kinda blend together

 

Man people are so stupid lol. Glad Vince seems to let it roll off of him, and we can get more projects like this/BFT.
