In a way, this feels like a logical 3rd disc to Summertime 06. As if he is revisiting that record and dumping out all that he couldn’t when he made initially made it. Sonically it resembles that record the most too, especially the sparser moments tucked into that record

I am 100% team BFT - it was a total revelation and probably my pick for the hip hop record of the 2010s. I’d love for him to keep pushing that sound, but he’s never really been an artist that has repeated himself in that way. Honestly astonished that this record has provoked the reaction it’s getting.

i feel like it's been mostly positively received? 7.3 on pitch and only like 2 people in this thread that dislike it.

Pretty neutral, leaning toward disappointed, after my first listen. Everyone's reviews make me feel like I need to give it a few more tries.

enjoying this overall on first listen, definitely chill but nice. Will need more listens for it to sink in

  15. I think BFT was a record I really wanted to like more than I actually did like, if that makes sense. A very ambitious record with some really electric highlights (Rain Come Down still gets me going), but the more time passes the more I realize it’s not really for me. Almost never go back to it like I do his other stuff

Definitely agree this feels cut from the same cloth as Summertime in a way

I actually agree with you 100%. I really, really, really in THEORY should love it. The production, the features, everything lines up for it to be something I should love.... but I don't. I go back to it a lot, thinking things will change, but always come away a bit dissapointed

BFT is a record that still grows on me every time I listen to it. It was actually my introduction to Vince and thought it was okay but it’s a record I keep reaching for. My tastes I think have leaned more in that direction since it came out.

Going to need more time with this but I don’t think I’m as blown away as I was with Summertime or BFT. Take Me Home is my fav so far

This is good, short and sweet.

Question for the disappointed people in the thread- what are you hoping for from this album, from Vince in general? This feels like quintessential Vince to me. I’m hearing some complaints that they want energetic stuff but I’m pretty sure FM! is exactly that and gets a lot of shit on this site.
