Just finished, this might be his coziest sounding release if that makes sense? Really dig Take Me Home and MHM, in general Kenny brings his A game with the production

 

How do these beats go so hard when they’re so chilled out I do not understand

I was trying to think of a word — cozy might be perfect. It’s like soft and oddly kind of calming. The production all around is top notch

Loved this, man. I love that it never really abandons its mood even a little bit, and that it’s concise enough for that work super well. Really cool to hear a more melodic approach on a bunch of those vocals too. Already know I’m gonna play the shit out of this, short enough to run it back over and over

Sundown Town and Lil Fade had me moving. Opener and closer are great too. Only one that lost me a little bit was The Shining but I’m sure that’ll change

 

ok idk, Are You With That? is maybe my song of the year

 

I was admittedly underwhelmed on my first listen but I think that might just be because I wasn't expecting it to be so mellow, I'm definitely gonna listen a bunch more. Agree that Taking Trips is the early highlight to me

 

Oh wow I was out of the loop and just woke up to this! Dope

 

I love this, unsurprisingly. I think the brevity of it works great with the sound he's going for - I don't know if it would have sustained 40 some minute at this tempo. The production is so sharp on this too. No two of his projects have ever been the same and this feels especially true for this one. In a way, this feels for Vince's discography what uknowhatimsayin was for Danny Brown. I understand why people want more high energy stuff from him - and it will be great if he goes that way again - but I can already tell that the tepid/negative reactions to this will frustrate me lol.

 

With the “two albums released this year” thing I wonder if the next one will be super high energy.

I love this though. Gonna be playing it over and over today. Sundown Town and Lil Fade are the early favorites.

Can’t pretend I’m blown away or anything, but it’s very good and I love the vibe of it.

 

First time I heard “Are You With That?” I was like oh damn he’s on his beach boys shit and then promptly drops a beach boys reference.
