Holy fuck the Earl clip

 

I'm like 6 in and nah. There's still a bit of BFT influence on this, but it's nowhere near the club album that was. The production is still amazing though.

 

The Eminem syndrome

 

definitely some knockers just the opposite of the direction I wanted Vince to go personally. and he decided to sound like Eminem for Relapse for some truly baffling reason lmao

yeah I've played it like five times already good god

 

the last rapper I ever thought I'd be comparing Vince Staples to! yeesh

 

trying to stay in the mindset that he is just making fun music for an ep since we already know this ain’t the album

 

It's really great so far, idk what the problem seems to be. I never expected him to continue down the BFT path, so my expectations have always been a bit tempered. But he sounds great (and definitely not like Eminem) and the production is super impressive.

People went after me for this before but I see Kendrick going that same route

 

I think Vince should make an album with DJ Quik

 

Definitely don't hear any weird voice. I personally think this is great. It's a surprise album that's a lot of fun. We know he can make long immersive masterpieces, but we haven't heard the more candid side of Vince until now.

Overall this is Vince at his most accessible. Really good, super short and sweet. I also wish the Earl verse was longer, goddamn.

 

For the record I haven't heard this yet so I'm not commenting on if there is a voice or not lol

Eminem is the last name I wanted to see Vince get compared to lol

 

He's just the most famous example of a technically very gifted rapper getting way too caught up in that aspect of his rapping to the detriment of the rest. I could say Canibus effect but like who cares lol

I totally expect Vince to make another BFT masterpiece, obviously completely different sound though. This EP might just be a fun one off. Prina Donna was a great flex ep
