like is that really what your morals have come to? like it's not fun being the one to wag my finger, it makes me feel like an insane person because seemingly everyone's perfectly happy posting about Game Pass and Forza and Gears... like have you guys gotten this callous?

like at this point do you support the genocide or do you just not give a fuck because your entertainment is more important to you?

 

Yeah like I get some stuff is gonna be played and that's just life, the Chorus dot FM video game thread is never gonna bring down Microsoft or anything, but we gotta bring back some shame and be less proud of that consumption IMO especially as it's an active topic that just feels like it's being ignored or danced around

 

Like I know nobody gives a shit and this isn't an airport and I don't have to announce my departure, but it's legimitely making me *not* want to post here, when people can't even pass the bare minimum of "support" when there's a genocide.

I’ll be honest I tend to forget just how many properties Microsoft owns, this one’s on me since it was a launch title for the 360

What Microsoft funds is unforgivable. My lofty hope for a future state of gaming at some point is that there will be a decentralized way to share them on tech that is built sustainably and obvi doesn’t murder children

I don’t know what the path to get there is though, other than continuing to support indie devs.

 

Worst case scenario, there are some things that can just not be talked about here out of respect.

Trust me I wanted to cop Forza and now Gears very badly but I don’t fuck with that shit MS is doing so I felt ok dling Diablo when it was free too.

 

I'm not saying this as an excuse but liek as a trans woman of color in America's current political climate, if subbing to Gamepass for a few months out of the year, and going to Target and Starbucks, makes me not want to kill myself, I consider that a win. I kinda feel gross being villainized for trying to find some small joy when things are bleak for ppl in my marginalized communities. I know I can do better tho, I promise to cancel my sub as soon as I'm done.

 

And hey, I'm not a white leftist who told ppl not to vote for Kamala, cut me some slack, I'm not the reason we're in this situation, I didn't throw every queer and poc American under the bus

Of course I'm pro Palestine. But I feel like we've reached a point where being able to act on that is a position of privilege

 

no ethical consumption under capitalism for sure but there are very easy boycotts to keep in mind while still taking care of your own mental health

I do what I can. Most of the time I get boba instead of Starbucks, I get my books, movies, and music from local independent stores instead of Target. But if I need some essential toiletries really quick, sorry, I'm going to Target
