it's not fun that anything is that expensive, but if any game had to be at least $80, i get why it'd be GTAVI

I think they could have got away with much more than a $10 price increase honestly. I’m just saying the prices have been consistent for years and with the insane budget for this game, it makes sense that it’s the first to push that $80 price.

I will be preordering so I can forget about the $100 I spent and just enjoy the game in 5 months. It’ll be like an early Christmas present lol

  7. It fucking sucks so much. This is the wrong choice too. Marathon should never have cost 250mil and requires 400+ devs to make and pulled people away from their money printing machine. Destiny should and could have been like WoW and basically lives forever with the right leadership and developer support. Marathon is a fun game but <10k average players for a game that cost that much is the dumbest fucking thing when destiny can easily maintain 500k-1mil players during mid-year content lulls.

Really sucks. Should’ve kept Destiny going and Marathon should’ve been f2p imo

In theory the GTA6 cost is fine. It’ll suck when it sells a billion copies at that price and execs still feel the need to lay people off but hopefully that doesn’t happen

Out of the things that are annoying me the base price is low on the list

i mean i'm not playing it anyways, i've never liked gta. i just don't think we should accept that steep of a price just because well it's been in development for forever and it cost a lot to make.

Not for nothing but I’m sure I’ll feel better about the amount of content I’m getting with GTAVI for $80 than I did with Mario Kart World.

  12. i only buy maybe one or two new releases at full price every year, i mostly wait for sales and bundles, but like there's gotta be a way to keep games affordable for consumers while still paying the ppl who make them/not laying them off and closing studios etc and i'm not an expert on the industry but i'm pretty sure the problem is with the shareholders at the top

Exactly what I told my wife this morning. Nintendo releases games with 15-20 hours of content and the prices don’t drop for years. Using that logic, GTA is a value lol

That's what people said about the newest Mario Kart but people still bought it though.

Xbox: Man. We need to win people back or we're in trouble
Also Xbox: So yeah, we're increasing prices again and ditching the version with the most storage space but DON'T WORRY THOUGH, we're bringing back our rent to own system so you can just pay it off! We all win, right?!

lot to blame Microsoft for, the hardware prices ain't one. It's a combination of the economy being what it is and their very diminished negotiating position due to their low hardware sales.

there's actually a very good interview with Valve where they allude to this:

"Valve Says The Companies Making RAM Give Them A Price And If They Say No, They ‘Never Talk To Us Again’"

I'd argue Microsoft's heavy investments into AI have also contributed to this so they can be just as much part of the blame as all the other tech companies that have been cozying up to AI development

yupp. the price increase of hardware is 100% due to chip shortages from ai data centers.

The point is that this was gonna happen. Once Nintendo did it and people bought it anyway, it was over.

Just rolled credits on 1000X Resist and wow, what a 'game'. As I said before, it's more of an interactive novel (very little gameplay and player choice till the end but what a great, thought provoking story. Wrapped in the glossy sci-fi package is a tale about generational trauma, a sense of belonging, and world and family history and politics.

I don't want to spoil anything, but if you are at all sensitive to certain themes, check the trigger warnings as it's a VERY heavy game.

Will be thinking about this one for a while...

The studio has a new game coming too that looks great.
