I like it. Granted, I know the game has resource management and tower defense gameplay which I'm not a fan of (which is why I quit the OG gacha) so I hope it's not too demanding. I love the future of gacha. My wallet on the other hand......
Some games I have played recently: Luigi's Mansion: A fun, slight, little game. Because of the high cost of video games as compared to other forms of media there is this expectation of a long length, but it stays its welcome just long enough to introduce some concepts, expand the difficulty, and assess the player on what they have learned. Nintendo games are meant for all ages but some of the ways to unlock the hearts of the portrait ghosts can be confusing, but nothing impossible. The way Nintendo games are created is fascinating; Sony and Microsoft games are so often iterative but at Nintendo someone said hey what if we did Luigi Ghostbusters and it spawned a new series. Mother 3: Possibly better than Earthbound. A JRPG that jumps around protagonists for much of the beginning of the game, keeping you from settling too deep into a routine, until it starts to build into the deceptively complex RPG that rivals the best ones. At this point it seems like it will never officially come to the United States, but the fan translation feels close enough with its similarities to Earthbound that it doesn't feel suspiciously off. Kid Icarus: Of Gods and Monsters: It is easy to see why this franchise has been mostly dormant for decades. The religious iconography was already tricky for a company so intently focused on keeping a wholesome image, but even beyond that there is not much more to expand on other than a graphically and mechanically progressive sequel. Harmless fun, but not memorable compared to their major platformers. Donkey Kong Bananza: Just like Super Mario Odyssey, there are such wonderful moments of pure joy when the pieces come together at the climax of some sections and levels. Donkey Kong has never quite been on the Zelda and Mario A-tier: it missed the Switch entirely (not including ports), the Returns and Tropical Freeze entries were well received but did not change the formula much, and games like Jungle Beat and Donkey Kong 64 are remembered more for their weirdness than quality. By the time you get to the end and are mixing all of your animal powers to make it across the level, it has reached something truly great. However, whoever made the DLC and decided to charge twenty dollars should be brought up on charges.
clair obscur is fun i got to the first mini kind of boss or whatever near the indigo tree I think and kept losing because i suck at dodging and parrying i will keep trying even though i am bad at video games
Use the lower difficulty levels to get used to it if you aren't already, also picking up on the audio cues helps a lot with the timing.
I think I played at the lowest one for a little but to get into the swing of it and then was able to bump it up early/mid game
Lol yeah I'm not afraid to admit that I've bumped down to story difficulty for a couple of the boss fights in Yotei. I've given them all a couple tries on medium but just didn't want to spend time trying them over and over again.
I played through on normal in Expedition 33, and I did everything except beat Clea, Simon, and the last three levels of the Endless Tower. I might go back and try them on easy now, plus there's the DLC.
I played on hard until I got to the end of act 1 and then I went down to medium, I was falling behind on being able to talk about it because of how much longer things were taking me on hard so I bumped it down to enjoy the discourse lmao Nothin wrong with enjoying your desired difficulty level and it is not an indicator of skill if you'd rather play it one way than another And even if it is who cares
Oh yeah it just got some dlc. I played it on gamepass, which I kinda wanna avoid anyway for different reasons, but they don't usually give access to dlc unless you buy it. Haven't revisited Starfield yet either for this exact reason. I don't think CO:E33 or BG3 have gone on sale over 20% off. The latter hasn't been on gamepass either. I mean, good for them. I just wish I had all the money in the world to spend on my interests. Like, imagine being able to buy not just the game(/movie/show) but also the artbook and the soundtrack on vinyl.
I love to lower the difficulty. I've been doing it for some of the harder bosses on the Dragon Quest remake and idc who knows
ppl who make others feel bad for playing lower difficulty or using accessibility options are weird. Usually ppl who only play soulslikes, like, they even say you shouldn't use a mage build in Elden Ring or whatever. Like why do you care so much, let others enjoy the game however they want. No one in this thread is like that, tho, thankfully
I use the easiest difficulty on a lot of horror games which is watching a streamer play it cuz I'm too chicken but I also think they're cool
The tips I always give for COE33 is listen for sound cues, almost every move has a sound cue that is signaling to dodge or parry. Against bosses dodge at first then parry when you learn the pattern.
Playing the new PoE2 season, got about 170 hours in it now and I finally feel comfortable enough to try my own builds with some confidence. I use PoE Ninja a little still for guidance, but god damn it feels good not to feel completely overwhelmed. Having a lot of fun with it. Doing a poison arrow ranger right now.
The thing I learned that is kinda sorta helpful but not is the camera zooms out until it's time to parry and then it zooms in really quick when it's time so if you can catch that you can parry But in some instances it's really hard to detect/extremely subtle
i disabled camera movements during combat bc it made me dizzy. i wish that was an option for darkest dungeon and beneath oresa, those two sound like fine roguelikes but i can't make it through a single combat without wanting to throw up
I am having such a wonderful time with Ghost of Tsushima. I have a feeling I am almost done with the main story as I'm in Act 3 and it feels like the end. I didn't do as many side missions only because I know I will most likely be diving into Ghost of Yotei soon.
