Star Wars, Divinity, or Mega Man would’ve all been excellent stopping points. That studio must’ve paid millions lol. I hope it succeeds but sheesh
I knew something like HL3 was pure cope because Valve doesn’t need the platform but I would’ve put actual money on the final announcement being Cory Barlog’s new game tbh
had fun watching with some friends on discord and reacting. Star Wars, Control, Divinity, Mega Man were highlights. but this… I NEED this game
Anyone else tentatively excited we're getting not one but two Tomb Raider games? Even if one is a remake of the first game, although it looks gorgeous.
this is some real fucking petulant shit. even if the games revealed don't appeal to you (in which case maybe it's time you reconsider your hobby), I don't know what else they could've done.
Mega Man getting that orchestra was definitely something you'd expect to see close a show. And Divinity, you'd have thought that with all that hype revolving around the statue, it could have also been a closer.
I just wanna say out of all the hacky tryhard studios from Poland, Flying Wild Hog might be the hackiest and tryhardest so I hope Crystal Dynamic's handholding is very heavy.
I didn’t really care for that show. But I’ve never really cared for The Game Awards anyway. Some stuff I’m excited about, mostly the new Divinity and Fate of the Old Republic, but they are such a laboriously paced show. And I wish they gave more space to the actual awards, but it is what it is
personally think that Silksong should have won indie of the year (real weird category) but happy to see Clair Obscur get the love they deserve all around.
I agree with the calls for giving the awards more time, but it’s clear the focus is more on what’s to come so I just tune in for the reveals. I do find it weird since they clearly have wanted to legitimize, for the lack of a better word, these awards but then they speedrun through three at once with little fanfare between trailers. The desire and execution seem at odds with one another. That aside, I thought it was a pretty decent show overall. I really loved E33 and it’s very deserving of its flowers, but I’d personally rank it third behind Silksong and DS2. There were loads of great trailers and I’m really psyched for Saros, Control Resonant, and Orbitals in particular. I agree that final premiere was a bit of a wet fart and it truly seems like a game that’ll be only be remembered as a joke by next year’s show.
Reading up more on AC8 and they were definitely influenced by the Ukraine-Russia conflict, as the set up is similar. Especially the Ghost of Kyiv, a mythical Ukrainian fighter pilot created for morale purposes. Seems the player's home country did the same thing but the player will end up making the myth real. Kinda sick.
