Horses is now back in the Humble Store after they rereviewed it and determined the content within, while heavy, was safe for consumption after all. It's a small victory.
Randomly came across Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for 22 bucks at Walmart and bought it on a whim. Played about 2/3 hours and am loving it. Never played it back in the day. Pleasant surprise.
I'm about halfway through my first Outer Worlds 2 playthrough. I was bummed there was no 3rd person option in the first game, but I’m pretty only using 1st person because I find the combat easier. I do wish you could re-spec at any point, because it's really easy to lock yourself in to a build that doesn't necessarily work. Lock it behind an item that costs a ton or something, just so long as it's there. It also seems like the balancing is off. There's difficulty spikes, and certain fights are really tricky if you're playing a stealth build. Other than that, I'm enjoying it. The writing is ridiculous again, the levels are bigger, and the gunplay is satisfying.

I'm going to try to explain it. Santa Ragione makes some out there games, and this idea in particular was I believe brought to them by a film student who wanted to say something about puritan values and their ill effects by parsing it through the lens of a newly hired ranch hand helping tend to "horses" that are actually just naked people with horse masks. It's every bit intended to be disturbing, although one reviewer found a lot of humor in the events that transpire in the game, so I guess it's in the eye of the beholder what you take away from the experience. This story is about three such beholders. Steam reviewed a build a couple years ago that the company had to throw together last minute that included a scene where a minor was riding on the shoulders of one of the "horses". It was per the developers never intended to be sexual, and the game model was since changed (which they state was always the intention), but Steam refused to A. confirm if that was the reason they refused to sell it and B. review the updated build. Epic Games Store, on the other hand, approved the game months ago and only declined after arbitrarily having the game rereviewed and arrived at an AO rating, even though the game had already been reviewed and classified as M. They used that as a justification for going back on their earlier decision. It's unknown if they felt pressured by what happened with Steam, as they didn't announce pulling the game until the day before launch. Finally, Humble Bundle was originally going to sell Epic codes since Steam was out, but after Epic pulled the game, they announced they would sell a DRM free version. Then they pulled it instead, to rereview the content. Upon doing so, they found the content to be heavy, but not offensive and thus safe to put back up for sale, which they did. It's a very bizarre story, and while I do understand Steam's original concern (assuming that was the reason), it's partly their fault for having Santa Ragione slap a build together for approval so early in development and it's a shame they refuse to even try rereviewing it. And Epic's behavior is sketchy/cowardly as fuck. It is a profoundly weird concept for a game, but I appreciate it trying to be shocking in order to make the player feel something. It's very much an art project kind of game, and the scariest thing is how much power Steam in particular wields over making or breaking a studio by refusing to sell a product. It's also incredibly hypocritical when there are literal porn games on Steam that are way more disturbing and offensive that Steam will happily carry without a second thought. But alas.

Had no idea this was happening but the first Guild Wars was rereleased! Nothing too drastic but some nice QoL updates it looks like. Controller mode feels great, I've played a good amount of GW2 and always heard people gush about GW1. Guild Wars® Reforged on Steam
