I got this on my new Switch because i was kinda desperate to find something new to play with my new pro controller and WOW. Been playing this all day. Fantastic spin on a hades-like rogue. Combat is super fun and meta-progression has tons of options.

Some games I have played recently:

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga: There is some decent humor in how they choose to portray the more violent scenes in the films, but what is surprising about all the LEGO games I have played recently is how hard some of the puzzles can be. The combat is a joke, but I never thought I would have to look up a YouTube video to figure out a problem. Weirdly enough, the prequel sections were the most fun of the game.

Panzer Dragoon: A decent shooting game, but other than the obvious reason, why bring it back? It has only been replaced and improved upon 100 times already. Those older games relied on difficulty and often just bad design to stretch out these very short games, but with aids like the new aim assist it makes it much easier to kill your opponents and finish the entire game in about an hour. Sometimes a game is better left as a memory.

Space Invader: I am sure I played it as some point in my life, but it was still on the list and summer school is boring. There is a kind of accidental hopelessness in these old games because you are going to die and fail, it is just a matter of when. It is as simple as can be, trying to kill the aliens as they try to destroy your bases and eventually you. Video game history is so much harder to experience than film history, but these ones are so old they can just be played in a browser and you don't need to put in more than a half hour to get what the game is.

Max Payne 3: A very good job at bringing back an old franchise. Technically they are only one generation apart, but a very early PS2 game compared to a late PS3 game feels so much wider. The original Max Payne felt cheap so often with its kills, while 2 was so much better at creating rooms where you could actually play without getting killed instantly. Here you actually do get to strategize and manipulate the world, rather than just hitting the marks before you lose. There are some very restrictive gameplay elements, like automatically dying in the sniper level if you don't go after him on the left, or doors locking behind you after every bullet gallery. A Max Payne 4 would be fun.

 

I just finished playing through the Tomb Raider Survivor trilogy. I really enjoyed them. They were my first TR games I’ve ever played.

What other games are similar that I can check out? I know Uncharted would be one. At the moment only 4 and another one are on PSN. Is it worth jumping into them? Or should I find a way to play the older ones first?

 

The first Uncharted is bad but then the others are great.

 

I legit wanna rage at the skate alpha just for the fact I can’t unlock the rest of the areas in the game cause stupid ass requirements

you have to get like a 900 point collection score on unlockables through loot boxes in the game to move on in areas. The problem is they load these loot boxes up with a thing called titles and if you get a title then you don’t get any points.

basically the grind never ends and the refresh rate for missions is trash I am ANNOYED

 

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is available on PSN. It's PS4 versions of the first 3 games. Definitely play those first.

So, I actually saw that when I went back to download 4. I’m not sure how I missed them the other day. I have them downloaded now and will be checking out soon.

 

the way fifa street has these fun mechanics and the soundtrack is equally fast paced and you got that commentator going crazy for every move
