It’s That Time Of The Year Prestigious

Playing the OG Red Dead Redemption in 60 FPS is like night and day, also I know that generation tried but seventh generation graphics are just fucking ugly

It’s truly something playing it and realizing how many leaps in gaming occurred by the time the sequel came out and how vastly deeper and robust it is compared to the first. So much of the mechanics and environment are products of its time, it feels modern but also so dated concurrently and playing this 15 years later makes me appreciate how far games have come since. Having the knowledge of the events of 2 also makes the story more impactful imo.

Yeah I've got it downloading and while I'm expecting 60fps to be a godsend, they really did make a tremendous leap in between the two games.

The RDR games also benefit the most from the empty open world problem Rockstar is known for, it’s much easier to get away with the limitations when your environment is very open and you don’t see people particularly often when the setting is untamed America. It makes me also more curious about GTA 6 since the trailers boasts denser NPC counts and I wonder as if they can portray a more realistic urban environment versus previous Rockstar titles before.

Of sugar and ice I am made

I've been itching to replay it ever since I beat RDR2, specifically because I know the story is going to hit so much harder than it did the first time.

    Player's Log
(been a while since I've updated)

Injustice 2: Solid game, better than the first, enjoyed the storyline quite a bit and the various matchups were fun to explore. My five-year-old plays it a ton now haha. Lowest difficulty and he button-mashes with the best of them and wins most of the time.

Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!: Maybe not quite as good as the first game, but still a blast. 100% completion. These games are so much fun. I'm sad I missed out on them decades ago, but it's great to be experiencing them now.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: 100% completion, we can finally shut it down now. No, but after about 120 hours I did complete the main storyline with Alduin. With that plus the Stormcloaks and College of Winterhold questlines completed, I'm content calling this a "finished game" for tracking purposes.

I still plan on finishing up the Companions, Thieves' Guild, and Dark Brotherhood questlines (at least as far as they entertain me, I guess), as well as probably the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC, and whatever other side stuff piques my interest, but it's no longer a main game I'm focusing on playing. I would at some point enjoy doing a new playthrough with a different class and style, but tbh that's not too likely given how many other similar games I want to play first...

Anyway. Phenomenal game. I should have played it much sooner. Really, really loved my whole experience with it.

Omno: Much like AER, which I played earlier this year, this is a charming little story-driven platformer/puzzler. I really loved it. My only gripe is that the actual platforming controls are frequently wonky and frustrated me when they shouldn't have. Otherwise, though, the level design, the story, and the colors/vibes were excellent. Really impressed with the ending as well. Super fun short game.

That brings us to the present. I'm at 17 completed games this year; probably not going to hit my stretch goal of 24, but the actual goal of 18 will definitely happen. This is the most I've gamed in years, maybe decades, and it's been a blast. And has only moderately impacted the rest of my life.

Currently playing through Forspoken (about 35 hours in, fairly close to the end, and having an absolute blast of a time), Maid of Sker (about as much horror as I can handle in a game haha), The Alliance Alive (following a guide because I'm halfway through the game but the last time I played was four years ago and I don't remember anything), and Skyward Sword, as well as the everpresent and ongoing TOTK playthrough.

Plenty in the queue after this as well ... I'm thinking Gris, Sonic Frontiers, Origami King, Bō, Echoes of Wisdom, and Wild Hearts will all be in the relatively near future.

Haha you may not recall but I DMed you for advice about picking it up like a year ago. Honestly I think it’s a fantastic game. It might not be for everyone but it just keeps getting better and better as it goes. And it’s just so fun and explosive.

I 100% don’t believe the game will live up to the hype of the statue but I will allow every game studio to cash in on it for fake credit

At this point it’s probably the next Madden game

The latest guess is that it's Elder Scrolls Online related.
