I’m a veilguard defender but reading this they 100% should’ve delayed indefinitely instead of doing a second reboot. All the worst parts of the game are due to the fact EA forced them to keep most of the assets and work from the live service development to hit an extremely tight deadline for release. The fact no major choices were even in the game until late 2022 is absolutely batshit insane
Kudos to the devs for their hard work and getting what is generally a good product out the door. Fuck EA for fucking them over. The favoritism for mass effect over DA from the suits is so disgustingly on display in that article. Maybe that means ME5 will be good, but at what cost also fuck the grifters for making any honest assessment of veilguards shortcomings absolutely impossible and giving EA the ammo they needed to fire almost the entire team
had this thought, how far behind am i? The Elder Scrolls: i've played og Oblivion and Skyrim. The first three are too old that i think i'll just skip them Dragon Age: I've played Origins, 2, and Inquisition. Haven't gotten Veilguard Mass Effect: I've played 1 and 2. started 3, haven't gotten Andromeda Baldur's Gate: I haven't played any. The first two are too old that i think i'll just skip them. haven't gotten 3. The Witcher: played half of 1 and all of Wild Hunt. 1 was too clunky and 2 didn't look any better so i think i'll just skip them Fallout: I've played 3, New Vegas, and 4. The first two are too old that i think i'll just skip them Neverwinter Nights: played 1 and 2. ...there haven't been more. Dragon Age is like its spiritual successor. Final Fantasy: I've only played og 7, 8, and half of 13. i have 9 but haven't gotten to it yet i'm not at all interested in mmos like Neverwinter, Fallout Shelter, TESO, and the online FF games honestly, i've played most of these so long ago that i've forgotten much of the story, lore, and any of the choices i made. it's cool that a lot of these games let you upload your previous game save to change the world state but there's no point if i can't remember anything. the only games i've ever paid full price for are HFW and TLOU1-2 (on Steam). a long time ago i thought rpgs were my favorite genre but obviously i haven't been prioritizing them/keeping up with most of the big franchises i've started. i'm excited for new Witcher and Outer Worlds, yeah, but i probably won't play those right away when they come out, either. honestly idk what my next day one purchase is gonna be. i do know i've played a lot of metroidvanias, deckbuilders, and rogues in the last five years, most of them from smaller developers. a lot of them i got for free or on sale or played on gamepass... i'm not really the kind of gamer that's monetarily keeping the industry afloat haha... tldr there's too many games to play (and too many movies/shows to watch, too many comics to read, too many albums to listen to), it's kinda pointless to try to keep up with it all, just go at your own pace and check out what interests you.
Had a blast with Veilguard. I get the criticism but like others said I feel for the devs. Mage combat was so fun
also completely not really random but ea is 100% ruining the skate game right now lmao I don’t care if it’s an alpha it needs all the damn work
The glaring thing I see from this is you haven't played Final Fantasy 10. Totally worth the time when you find it on sale and are wanting to play something older that I think, stands up well. Play it with the original soundtrack and not the redone one. Agreed on too many things to do, play, and see. I want to play Clair Obscura(and Doom). It's downloaded. But any spare time I've had to play or watch anything I've been choosing to ride my bike instead.
I really respect the splitgate ceo dooming his game from launch, then doubling down pretending to have no idea that maga is divisive lol
Suikoden STAR LEAP adds PC version Silent Hill remake by Bloober Team announced POSTAL 2 Redux announced for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC
Wild story. I’m reading Jason’s second book right now too - Honestly it’s a miracle any game gets made at a big studio it seems
I’m in awe of Death Stranding. I’m almost done with episode 3, but it might be in my top games list already. The visuals, creative story, characters, music, just everything. You start off with nothing, then get more equipment and things to make and the game opens up so much. I spend time just gathering resources to build roads and make everything connect. Riding bikes on roads you make changes the game. And the bots?! Missions feel relevant and gives you some new tool or blueprint that actually helps you. I also laughed so hard when Conan O’Brien made an appearance. This is my last day of school, so I hope to finish it before part two. One hell of a game so far.
Tactics Orgre: Reborn is on sale right now. I’m thinking about waiting for FF Tactics in September. Is this one worth getting too? They seem similar. Three Houses is my wife’s favorite game and these seem up her alley too.
