I just don't get what I'm paying for, what is gonna be better? Like a 10% sharper image, brighter colors? Tf do i care about that for I think my brain is too dumb to even recognize those things unless they are pointed out by someone else lmao

I have an older Samsung but looking to upgrade too around the end of the year when sales are going on, but this is the site I've used before in the past and people tend to recommend.

Yeah most of those are out of my price range.

    I could manage this,

I just genuinely don't think I would appreciate having a more expensive and higher quality TV, I don't use the TV a lot. Idk, maybe I just dunno what a good TV can do for me because I've only had cheap ones.

I am at a place in life where i can save up pretty quickly for a higher end one.

As I said, get a used LG OLED, you’ll comfortably hit that price point.

you’re paying for blacker blacks and brighter brights. And 120hz and Vrr. And almost 0ms input lag.

Where can I even look for a used one? Marketplace websites?

I mean obviously that’s outside my area of expertise but yeah!

This is where I'm at. I also feel like I'm crazy as no one in my life that I've tried to explain the soap opera effect to even cares or understands what it is. 2 of my best friends, and my parents TV drives me nuts as everything looks 'fake' and behind the scenes and way less immersive and I genuinely enjoy watching the same shows and movies on my much older and smaller TV.

Video games probably wouldn't be a problem and I just upgraded from my laptop screen to a 32" and that's been amazing but again, it's a budget monitor so it's still not great but I just don't know what I'm missing out on to care.

However - listen to the people that do know and not my ramblings.

The soap opera effect is TVs that make a 60hz signal out of a 30hz signal by interpolating frames. It’s usually a single toggle in settings to turn it off. On my LG it’s called clear motion.

    it’s so fucking awful.

I think the one I posted I will be happy with, even looking up used LG OLEDs we are talking a 4 digit price point and I just don't care enough about quality to justify it. Not to put down anyone who does, I completely get it, like I said I genuinely think my brain is not sophisticated enough to appreciate and notice the differences lol.

I will do more research though, a Micro Center trip wouldn't hurt to see some of these higher end TVs in action.

I just know stubborn people who claim that I'm just not used to a good TV and it looks awesome. Plus not my house so I just leave it. But I have failed to get used to it.

There’s a Costco(?) house brand (Vizio?) I think that’s fucking awesome. Maybe it’s Best Buy?

Like said above, the most important things you want for gaming are VRR, 120hz, and closest to 0ms input lag you can get. The TCL you linked isn't bad either if you're looking for a brand new tv, the brand has come quite a ways in recent years.

I think the one I use with my PS5 is the exact TV you're getting but an older version

I'm gonna be replacing mine somewhat soon but we've had it for a long time (I think we got it in 2018?)

I’ve had awful experiences with every Vizio product I’ve had so I stopped buying them

I eventually want a C9 but right now I have two Samsung OLEDs from like 6 years ago

I just got this for less than $300. Somebody else probably can validate if it's a good deal or not but I'm happy with it so far.
