I've said before, there are hundreds of other places to discuss these games that you can go to if you really need to that badly. Continuing to post in a thread where MULTIPLE people consistently told you how uncomfortable it makes them to keep bringing it up like there's no issue is incredibly gross and insanely disrespectful, but you cleary don't care and are enjoying being an asshole.

I also feel like if the plurality of the thread, especially of the regular posters doesn't want talk about Microsoft, it's on you to create a Microsoft Games Studios thread, and not vice versa.

It's a decent idea. I don't think Freud is a prick. I don't think anyone here is a prick. Except for me of course. lol

But a dedicated thread to it would probably solve at least some of the back and forth that happens regularly. Obviously newer posters would still need to be told but no matter what anyone's thoughts are on world events, best not to bog either thread down. If a separate thread is the way to alleviate some of it, that makes sense to me.

Want to make clear that I'm not saying he's a prick because of this one incident but because of repeated behavior over time.

 

If you mean him repeatedly bringing up Microsoft's games, then yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I try not to judge either way. I get why he feels like he should be able to discuss any games he wants in this thread but I also get why others don't want to even see certain games being discussed. I know that's very much like devil's advocate but I'm just a rando on the internet. I think a secondary thread for Microsoft's games makes sense to me and solves the main issue.

But if you're referring to other kinds of behavior I'm not aware of, then I have no opinion for now as I wouldn't be educated on what he's done before. Either that or I have terrible memory. The latter wouldn't surprise me.

 

There is also nothing good that comes from "If you don't like it then leave" about something that makes people feel uncomfortable because they...don't support a genocide.

Like you said, it's repeated not reading the room, looking past people saying they're uncomfortable and choosing to just be that way, and then acting like those people are the problem

 

Someone like MarkM coming in to just talk about a game and then learning something and being like "oh my bad" is totally different and Mark nailed how to handle something like that

Like I know it happened in this very thread, but I did buy THPS3+4. Didn't even think about the fact that it was owned by Activision owned by MS. Didn't really mention it, not even thinking about that. Saw someone else mention getting it and Lori brought up that connection and I was like "oh shit he's right". And it made me think about where I spent my money. Lori's my very good friend and wouldn't be like "Dustin wants to blow up Palestine" or anything like that but I think a part of that is the fact that I just like...thought about it when he mentioned that? It's easy to not get defensive and recognize "oh man this might be a bit of fucked up consumption and I should think of others" and even if you do get the game, just think about the fact that if talking about it is making other people uncomfortable, then you're the one who should probably move your conversation elsewhere, not the people who are legit hurt and surrounded by this death. New thread is a good idea IMO

 

Honestly I have no reverence toward JK Rowling or the HP franchise so personally I have no desire to play/discuss it, I just know she is a TERF and shit human being. MS is too big of a company with tentacles in many aspects of this hobby, their relevance in this industry isn't going away especially with them going 3rd party ...you really can't ignore them.

Should we go into any thread that discusses the following topics and tell them they're wrong for consuming said products?



That would be any food thread, I'm sure Reebok sponsors sports stars, YouTube thread for Google, lord of the rings cuz Amazon, etc. I mean sure, it would be great to spread awareness but it's still entirely possible to discuss normally while ALSO being critical. Not everything has to be anti whatever the product is.

Also it's not that I ignore, it's just that I don't feel the need to remind someone EVERY single time it gets brought up, because I'm pretty sure the majority of people are aware already, but also people don't ONLY want to talk about the criticisms of a company. Like I said, it's entirely possible for people to be critical of a company and still want to discuss a game this company developed. I've been critical of MS since even before the Israel stuff and I will continue to be but that doesn't automatically make me hate gears or halo or fable or forza etc. Or even windows. Nor do I think people should be talked down on for enjoying said games. No one here is going "whoooo go Israel! Use that MS technology to kill more people! Yeah!" I'm pretty sure everyone in here is anti genocide. Someone just came in here, asked a question, I answered, it's that simple. I especially don't feel the need to tell people what MS is doing when I know it's guaranteed that someone else will chime in the moment they see any mention of a MS owned IP.

Seriously, maybe an Accountability thread should be created if people aren't capable of having more than one train of thought with topics. Or maybe post the BDS pic on the first post with a disclaimer or something.

Is that why you were posting about being so excited to see the sales numbers for Gears? Because you were discussing it normally when it comes to wanting them to profit? Sorry but nothing you're saying is in good faith and you've completely missed the point of everything everyone has pointed out. Not worth continuing to talk to you at this point and I hope we do just block and move on because it clearly isn't gonna get better with this person.

 

Yeah, cuz I'd like to see the franchise eventually brought on over to the PS5. I never played the last.....two? games? And if the series does well enough to get Sony ports, I'd rather play them on there with updated graphics.

Because you're essentially hoping a genocidal company is financially successful to a point where you're actively want them to creative opportunities to give them even more money.

Also, the reason Xbox is a BDS target because it's so very easy to not give them money when 5 games came out last week alone that they weren't attached to in a meaningful manner. Israel wasn't even a state when Silksong was announced.

And also because people keep asking repeatedly and one of the core tenants of a community is that we look out for each other.

anyway, the thread has been created, I have obviously no way to enforce it, but at this point if you still think having the Microsoft/Xbox discussion in here then that say a lot about you.
