yes you can totally be a glib asshole about it, but you could also just try to minimize giving unnecessary money to corporations that are complicit in a genocide. while yes, our work usually dictates which software we use, in your own house on your own free time you are very much in charge of how and where you spend your money.

this being your reaction to finding out you're giving money to one of the most complicit corporations in an ongoing genocide says a lot about you.

not to mention that this has been a reoccurring topic in this thread, so as a "moderator", I suggest you actually engage with the communities you post in, it might save you from coming across as insensitive.

Honestly had forgotten this and it's a bummer to think about (to put it extremely mildly)

I do think I donate heftily enough to services that benefit people in Gaza to more than offset that but it's still something to think about because I do think I fall short in recognizing where my money is going sometimes especially in more leisurely stuff

 

I do 100% believe we are fully complicit to some degree wether we'd like it or not (not to mention for example my car is entirely Chinese made even though it's masquerading as Swedish so I literally don't even want to know what kind of shit I am financing) but I do sincerely make a concerted effort in making sure that my leisurely purchases only go to marginally shitty companies.

I don't think anyone has posted this yet, but there was some great reporting in RPS this week about how Microsoft actively represses anti-genocide voices within their ranks.

 

I feel like it's tough to have any good faith conversations when people are in here being like "can't wait for the sales numbers!" about MS games and just being willfully awful about it. I don't think pop was doing that at all and was just excited about a game and was here in good faith, but for us who have been in this thread pretty frequently it gets tough when we see that stuff so often and it makes us pretty quick to the trigger finger to shut it down. I think things being better in here starts with shutting down the people who are going out of their way to be awful about the situation

It'd be a lot easier to discuss BDS and what the process looks like and also accept that some of us have to use MS products/have some areas in our lives where we're playing MS things and how to really offset that impact, if other people weren't rubbing things in and making people who give a shit about what's going on so uncomfortable

 

I don't know if I'm really helping but I think we need to have a little bit of levity about this stuff or we'll go insane.

I know I might come in a little hot when it comes to this, but I don’t think that levity and a genocide go together.

I also genuinely believe that as an adult with the privilege of living in a developed country you should be somewhat informed about the goings on in the world so even if you are not consuming ethnically, you at least have a faint idea of where your money is going, and if you do get called out, you can shove your indignation where the sun don’t shine

You're right to come in hot, it's an emotional subject, and for sure anything we do is absolutely from a priviliged position of not being in the middle of what's actually happening out there. It's easy for me to say things like "we don't have to be at each other's throats" or "let's diffuse the tension with a little humor" because we're not over there.

But I also refuse to lose my fucking marbles.

 

As much as that's probably the best idea (waiting for the ultimate/goty edition with ALL content included) I admit I've fallen into the prerelease hype. I finished another BL3 run a few weeks ago and it can be pretty relaxing just putting on some music or a podcast and grinding for loot.

Plus the amount of SHIFT codes that are available years after release.....TONS of gold/diamond keys to get OP guns.

 

They better! While it's extremely important to the overarching story found in future games, I do wonder of it should be released as standalone or just included with SC as some sort of extended epilogue. Its much shorter than the first two games, it also uses assets from the first two.......isn't the only "new" assets the bosses, so it shouldn't require too many new resources......but yeah I dunno HOW but I agree, 3rd would be neat in updated graphics and we need it!

Let’s just say after MindsEye IOI needs a hit, but their rendition of James Bond looks beyond generic.

 

Did IO do anything other than publish MindsEye? I guess I'm wondering how much they really lost from the release.

Anyway, James Bond looks basically like not-Pierce Brosnan, which to be sure, is the safest possible depiction.
