okay so i didnt read all of that but ability-locked backtracking is a feature of metroidvanias. thats not even a skill issue really, it's a progression issue, you aren't meant to access certain doors or ledges until you get the appropriate ability, which you eventually will by just playing the game naturally. that's completely different than, say, a soulslike boss you can't beat, although with stuff like Hollow Knight you might run into both issues in the same game. accessibility options are great, but you can't complain about not reaching a ledge that requires double jump when youve simply not reached the part of the game that unlocks double jump, a difficulty slider won't help you there

I found them all so are you referring to the hardest ones? I’ll say it was fun to wonder « where can I reach the highest point to jump from and end up at that location », except the times I failed because I was *so close* yet ran out of stamina fff. Coming to mind is the tower in Gerudo!

Ditto on the last point. I didn’t even realize how much it helped me git gud. I still die a lot because I’m not being careful or end up climbing something next to an enemy by accident (hate when that happens), but I definitely got better at defending myself, at aiming and at hitting at the right moments as well!

Wish weapons didn’t break so easily but I’ll probably figure out wiser ways to handle them.

The Akkala tower is the hardest, at least early in the game. When you don’t have much health all the guardians can one shot you so quickly. And it often rains there so it’s hard to climb up to avoid them. Once you get good at parrying guardians, it’s not a challenge. But I hadn’t gotten good at that yet when I first tried to get that tower.

 

Oh yeah that one suuuuuucked. Definitely took me the longest out of all of them.
