whoa wait is something going on today? what is everyone talking about?

 

For the record I did watch Mortismal’s AC preview and I concluded that maybe SkillUp is right. At least Yosuke gameplay looked boring as fuck.

 

Maybe because 1 already got rereleased as the OG black? That's the only reason I can think of. Yeah sigma exists but that was a PS exclusive port back when both consoles had their own separate ports.

 

I still don't know who was asking for or why we have him.

We wanted AC ninjas. That's it lol.

 

Was Fable there? I need Fable

 

Not sure how I feel about the Ninja Gaiden news. If the remake/remaster isn't based on the original 360 version, that'll be immensely disappointing. Sigma 2's combat system works differently and is inferior. The original release of Ninja Gaiden 2 has one of the best combat systems ever made.

Unfortunately, the original director behind Ninja Gaiden(and DoA) left after the second game released. It's probably why DoA fell off a cliff, Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma plays differently, and Ninja Gaiden 3 was bad. It's hard to get excited about Ninja Gaiden 4 with that context. It's been a long time though so maybe they got some new people working on it who understand what made NGII and Black special.

So yeah, as much as I want to be excited about the announcements, it's hard to be. I'll try out NGII Black and see how it plays.

I had forgotten this but apparently the source code for Black doesn't exist anymore, so probably to do with that.

 

What’s the difficulty like on NG2? It looks incredible but I’ve heard they’re extremely hard lol

 

I'm curious how Ninja Gaiden 2 compares to like Elden Ring/Soulslike games. I avoid those games because they're made to sound so difficult that they'd be unenjoyable to me, but I played NG2 when I was like idk 14 or 15 and I do remember it being hard but I'm pretty sure I finished it without too much of a problem. So seeing everyone say NG2 is notoriously difficult has me wondering if I'm actually just scared for no reason.

 

NG2 had 4 different difficulty levels iirc. I’d say just the base difficulty or “medium” is pretty equivalent to FromSoft games. The highest two which I can’t remember their names (master ninja, maybe?) make NG2 much much harder than something like Elden Ring imo at least

 

Their games have always kind of bounced off me. But there are definitely worse choices for Ninja Gaiden.

Alright, some thoughts on NGII Black after playing through the first two missions.

Pretty sure there's some input issues going on here. Ryu's movement doesn't feel nearly as snappy as the original and there's a few times where Ryu doesn't outright jump when I tell him to. And it's not when he's stunned either. I tried multiple controllers to make sure.

The importance of delimbing in the 360 version is back in force instead of the focus on pure damage in Sigma. But despite that, the enemy count is still nowhere near the 360 version, at least for the first two missions. The item and save point placements are based on Sigma as well.

Art direction is taken from Sigma on mission 2 which is unfortunate. I like the character models a lot. Both Ryu and Sonia look fantastic. But I'd say the very Unreal Engine look and the TAA doesn't make Tokyo nearly as eye catching as the 360 version played on One X, Series S, or Series X. There are a few parts of the original version that looked unfinished in later levels so I'm sure they did a much better job there. I just haven't gotten to them yet.

I played it on Mentor(very hard) and it has its moments but like I said, the enemy numbers are less so it's not nearly as difficult. If they fix the input issue, it'll probably end up in between the two versions. Worse than the 360 version but better than Sigma.

 

I haven't finished it yet but the Indiana Jones game is the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time

 

I have a lot of other games Final Fantasies on my plate, as well as the wonderful games I got from my Secret Santa, but since it's been in the news for all the wrong reasons, I decided I'll give the Dustborn demo a try. If the game is good (or at least mid), I'd love to raise awareness for the right reasons.



Man, really wonder why people are so mad at this game. Surely...

 

The more I play NGII Black, the more noticeable the lack of responsiveness becomes. They really gotta fix it. Turning Ryu in any direction feels like a chore.

It's honestly not that bad! I was pretty annoyed at first since if I wanted to sit in the car and pal around with my homies I'd just play Final Fantasy XV, but the narrative became really interesting.

There's a lot of representation, I'll say that. The characters are a little hamfisted and overwrought, but there's some genuine quality there. I don't think it'll be on my plate any time soon, especially since I just saw it was published by Quantic Dream, but I can safely say that not only doesn't any game deserve this amount of vitriol, this game super doesn't deserve it.

if I had to play a game like this, I'd just wait for Lost Frequencies.
