It’s my birthday weekend and I’m off next week. As a Virgo, I have the entire week mapped out on what I want to do. I plan to JFG a few days, but struggling to find game to kick back and get lost in.

also has anyone noticed how it’s impossible to say anything positive about any game Ubisoft has ever made without a legion of people yelling at you and using the word “slop” a lot? I cannot speak about any ubi game in a public forum anymore unless it’s this website. I like so many Ubisoft games lol

 

Yeah ubi gets very specific hate.

 

I never really understood the hate, yes they make pretty formulaic games and they’ve had a few missteps but that’s pretty much par for course in the game industry. I don’t know what happened but it’s weird how they just became the punching bag of the industry. It was weird working there when all the sexual assault/misconduct stuff came out because it felt like the internet just wanted to dogpile them while ignoring the toxicity in the industry happening at the same time.

 

Yeah don’t get me wrong they deserve criticism for a lot of things but the reflexive hate any time they get brought up is usually about their open world design (which works way more often than it doesn’t in their own games, it’s the imitators that ruined the style) or the fact a black person is in their upcoming Japanese game or some other form of bullshit DEI boogeyman arguments

 

I saw someone say something positive about a completely different game and someone replied “you like Ubisoft games shut up” like they went to their profile saw them probably excited for shadows or outlaws and immediately discredited their opinion and mocked them lol

 

For the most part the internet gaming community just makes me dislike a lot of gamers and the discourse that happens around games. Like you said before this feels like one of the few places where there can be differing opinions without it devolving into too much of a shitfest. I actually use this thread to keep up with the industry even though I'm in it...
