John Nightrein, Revenant and Duchess.

 

I've only used John Nightreign so far but plan on trying Guardian and Duchess soon

The God of War spinoff will be announced tomorrow according to Tom Henderson and Grubby

it’s a 2.5D/metroidvania GoW game

 

Hopefully in the future they add game chat and cross play.

 

I am so excited for the witcher IV to come out so all hands can be moved to cyberpunk 2.

I will play it, though for some reason I never got into witcher 3 so I'll go in blind. I probably should try again sometime soon. Mechanically I just wasn't feeling the short bit I played.

They added new movement options to Witcher 3 at some point. Feels better to some. Also I personally put the difficulty down to not bother with the alchemy etc.

Very happy to see The Witcher 4 tech demo running on a base PS5, but lowkey upset about the switch to Unreal Engine 5. Both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 run exceptionally well on the Steam Deck and other handhelds thanks to their custom engine, but ANYTHING running on UE5 sucks for the most part on handhelds. I know UE5 is still bleeding-edge tech, but with the fact that Epic is literally a Steam competitor and won't put their own games on the Steam Store, I have to wonder if UE5 games are always going to run like garbage on handhelds, regardless of hardware upgrades in the coming years.

Keeping my fingers crossed that handhelds running SteamOS become so popular that Epic is forced to make UE5 more optimized for them. Some developers will do the extra work it takes to provide better handheld CPU/APU optimization, but most don't.

 

With SteamOS being released for so many other handhelds, I'm sure developers will make some effort.

Unreal Engine 5 does not really scale down well to Steam Deck (see also Clair Obscur 33), but if the rumors are true that the Witcher 4 demo was running on a standard PS5 at 1080p60 there might be a chance to get a crusty 720p with FSR performance at 30fps that you vent sniffers seem to regard as "perfectly playable"

r/SteamDeck is truly one of the dumbest most delusional subreddits, about the same level as r/conservative

 

I'm not on that subreddit regularly, so not sure what you're getting at there. I've used it for troubleshooting and some game setting recs, but stay out of the general discourse. I stated "hardware upgrades in the coming years" because I know the current Steam Deck hardware is past the point of being able to handle new AAA titles no matter what engine they're running. It's aging tech, and it can only handle so much. I'm just holding out hope the Steam Deck 2 (or whatever it's called) is able to run UE5 games decently at 800p/30fps. that's it. not looking for ray-tracing or high FPS on a handheld device, causes that's not realistic

Got a chuckle from that "vent sniffers" comment though. That smell is weird.

I prefer PC over console, I don't like sitting in one place to use the PC, so handheld is a great compromise for me.

 

Reddit in general sucks

 

Lots of subreddits are perfectly harmless. I mostly use Reddit when googling stuff I need to figure out (as in I google the problem + reddit), it’s one of the only ways to get actual information instead of SEO/AI nonsense.

 

I thought of you yesterday when I bought six shooters that were on sale for my backlog lol
