These look cool

 

Yes. I really liked everything about it. I know it’s not as technical as Eternal (which I didn’t like) but the combat loop and the level design really geled with me.

also, the PC version is amazing imo.

 

Speaking of Returnal, I was trying to think of
what game Nightreign reminded me of and that is a pretty good example.

 

I could never really get into any single player FPS campaign weirdly

Me either but Dark Ages just hits different. It's a lot more methodical and action game combat oriented, I love it.

 

I haven't played in over a week, too many freaking games coming out and can't help myself. On chap 7 gonna play some more rn.

 

I need to keep playing it, I think I’m only on chapter four or five. I love it too other than being bad at reading the map for some reason.

 

The map is definitely overwhelming at first, I found myself getting better at reading it and using it to find spots I haven't covered yet organically. It took a bit though.

 

I didn’t once look at the map I blasted through the whole thing over a long weekend lol. I genuinely could not put it down.

 

I like the dumb collectible dolls too much to do that lol

 

I was never much for collectibles or a completionist, plus they remind me too much of funkos lol

 

Yeah, part of the fun was trying to find all the secrets. Love that about Doom

 

maybe i just have a weird mental block but i can't play more than like thirty minutes of CO at a time/in a day. it's gorgeous, tho, obv. maybe i just haven't gotten accustomed to the combat yet so i'm a bit weary of it. i still have it at the lowest difficulty bc i hate the dodge timing.

 

the best advice I can give you is to dodge/parry when the enemy's attacks start coming at you, not when they're about to hit. so earlier than you'd think.

 

The one thing I’ll say about Dark Ages that is a small complaint is that graphically it doesn’t seem like they’ve improved all that much since Eternal. There were bits of this game that looked … bad, especially the mech sections if you look at the smaller vehicles, buildings, etc.
the vehicles were fun as hell though honestly and I’m surprised at the amount of restraint they had in using them so sparingly. Felt just right to me.

If the trade off is that it performs basically perfectly, I’ll take it though. On my PS5 load times were nonexistent

 

Clair Obscur finished. Genuinely may be top 10 all time. What a ride, and an extremely unbelievable debut game. Glad it’s getting so much acclaim already.

 

There's also super helpful sound cues for when the right time to dodge/parry, i wouldn't say it's 100% of the time but MOST of the time there is a sound that will tip you off.

 

Oh that’s a great point yeah. I noticed the sounds last night in CO which helped with partying some of the enemies. Some have just genuinely wacky fucking timings though and it’s been trial and error a lot for me

 

I find Dark Ages to be fuckin gorgeous on my PC but i'm also very easy to please lol

 

Few games look better than the best looking games looked 10 years ago I think, unless you have an insane PC that nobody has

 

yeah that’s probably part of it. We’re sort of plateauing, less improvements between generations, etc .

 

Got to the mime in a hole with two dual sword enemies in CO but I’m not ready for that yet lol
