I was really on board with it not having a map at first because, well, that's how the souls games do it, but the level design does not really lend itself to map-less exploration. there are no real landmarks to speak of to orient yourself on, even within a level.

thankfully, the overworld does have a map and is better for it.

 

Yeah I don't mind not having way points but I would just like to be able to see where I was and where I had already been so I could tell which way to go lol

 

also I want to say I made my Maelle look exactly like Chappell Roan I am only not posting screenshots because of spoilers haha

 

Agreed. I get turned around quite a bit, especially when I boot it back up and forget where I was heading.

 

Honestly I really like the way Dead Space does it, where you can get a guiding line to where you need to go. Makes me feel way more confident exploring.

 

Oh man I totally agree. One of my favorite parts of DS Remake was the guidance system

 

This was really cool and sweet, it’s so nice to see how many of those same people are still there. It’s like a family really.

 

Thinking of dead space just makes me sad. I really wish the remake had sold like crazy and we were going to get a remake of 2. The remake was fantastic and every bit as cool as the original but DS2 might be one of my favorite single player campaigns of all time and I wanted to experience that again with a fresh coat.

RE Clair Obscur - Yea, I wish we had a map and waypoints lol i feel like i have stumbled to destinations through very inefficient and enemy ridden routes.

I also think the camera is too far out on the traversal area and too far zoomed in when you're in interior zones. I also haven't fast travelled as I don't remember where the fast travel areas are without a map.

Having said all that, I love this game so far! The enemies are varied, and the combat is so fast and fluid, and if you get the first strike and pay attention to the enemy type and weak spots, the difficultly is manageable.

Still haven't finished act one and clear of spoilers so loving the reactions some of you have had and am ready to keep going.

 

That's basically how TLOU2 does it except it's a more linear game I think? (I haven't played Dead Space)

 

TLOU2 is actually a fairly accurate comparison to how linear (or lack thereof) the levels in CO are.

 

next week, I'll join y'all in Clair Obscur. had some unexpected expenses come up... my cat has asthma but she is doing good! and yes, cat's can have inhalers.

my partner will also be gone so it's better timing.

 

Sorry your cat has to deal with that! But I do find videos of cats using nebulizers really funny. Maybe you can go viral.

 

I usually will buy vampire survivor-like games then refund them after 30 mins but this one deff hits different, very much worth looking at if you like the whole VS bullet hell genre

two thirds of the way through Clair Obscur. It just keeps getting better and more interesting.
