Bloodborne was literally a horrible experience for me and then someone showed me how to play the game a bit differently and it just started to flow. I hated the opening area so much because it just felt like I was ramming my head into wall.

Bloodborne's opening area is way too difficult for a first timer.

I also feel like part of my gripes with Elden Ring were related to a lesson I needed to learn that ALSO was a gripe with Bloodborne: that I really didn't need to fight everyone.

I wasn't someone who banged their head against the wall with Tree Sentinel but I DID have the itch to fight every small enemy I saw in Limgrave/Yharnam and never really just accepted that I didn't need to fight them

Now my rule of thumb is to fight everyone once but once I've killed them at one point I have the right to run past in the future, made the games feel a lot less tedious

In DS3 and Sekiro I fought everyone all the time and had no problems with it

    nah, especially that fucker.

If I've died a couple times in an area of a Souls game, I tend to them just speedrun it and avoid enemies. It works most of the time, unless the game let's the enemies follow forever, then i'm fucked.

The Elden Ring DLC is one of my favorite DLC’s ever. You could wander around for days and still not find everything.

    Player's Log: Metal Eden

    GRIP AND TEAR.

Every now and then a game comes completely out of nowhere and just hits the spot so hard you find yourself reeling and wondering how you've never heard of it before. Thanks to @morgantayler I find myself in that exact situation as I just got done running through the demo for Metal Eden.

Metal Eden is a first person shooter with a focus on mobility that's set in a cyber-dystopia that mirrors the recent forays into cyberpunk with some futuristic anime trappings.

When I first loaded into the game, the constant references to "having to rebuild myself" had me thinking my ever expanding-abilities will expand the world around me, giving me access to new areas, but as it turns out, we're looking at a stage based affair.

The levels are largely linear, punctuated by small arenas where you have to survive waves of enemies, and also accomplish the occasional objective. Between those, your jetpack, your grappling hook as well as your dodge are used in both the aforementioned arenas as well as in the platforming sections of the level. While some sections flow together naturally, some are connected by literal rails that are still exciting due to their break-neck speed. There is some level of interactivity here as you have to switch rails mid-travel and shoot the occasional enemy.

The weapons, while being fairly standard -- a shotgun, a pistol and a submachine gun were available in the demo -- hit hard and offer unique upgrades like faster cooldowns or auto-aim (lol). I especially liked the pistol as it rewarded precise aiming -- until it didn't because the first upgrade got rid of the need to aim it entirely.

Which is nice, but I guess what's really nice is ripping an enemies beating mechanical heart out of their chest and using it to either power yourself up or just throw it at an enemy akin to a grenade. Your call, really.

Saying the game is a mixed bag graphically is a disservice to the art style and technical excellence on offer, however the game looked quite blurry and is sometimes stylized like a literal low-bitrate YouTube video to give the appearance of you controlling the main character through a literal video-feed. This can be off-putting and I hope they give us the option to dial these effects down in the main game.

The PC version is in a rough shape, which given the fact that the game is still a month out I'll refrain from elaborating upon.

10/10 I'll be there no matter what.
