My point is that, it would be kinda crazy if they did that. I think it’s a very fair assumption to assume that the sequel, the next generation, will have better battery life, not lesser.

 

I'm not talking about what's fair though, I'm talking about what's accurate.

I'm saying that the Switch had two models, one of which improved upon the battery life for whatever reason, either parts got cheaper or they figured out some way to make an improvement, or whatever.

This is a new system with different, upgraded parts, so there is going to realistically be a trade-off somewhere. It makes sense that battery life is where that trade-off is.

 

Haha. I admit I had one of the very first iPhones back when I was younger and making the transition from flip phone/blackberry and Verizon at the time had a free upgrade to the iPhone. So I got like the 3GS or what we it was, lasted like a year and hated it and went full on Android once I could. Best decision I ever made!

 

Seeing a lot of "Nintendo is for babygames" guys pissed the new FromSoft Bloodborne successor is Switch 2 exclusive

 

Of course it makes sense, that's not my point. My point is that it's wild to see the next generation of a piece of technology, whether it be phones, video game systems, graphics cards, or whatever, have an important function be strictly worse. The point of a new generation, as you mentioned, is upgrades - to make the technology better. I don't know about you, but a worse battery does not sound like an upgrade. Apple, for example, has taken away features (i.e. the headphone jack) but I can't imagine them making a new iPhone and advertising that they now have a worse camera.

 

I don't think I will get Switch 2 close to launch but when I do I will be getting it with a pro controller, Mario Kart World, MP Jamboree with upgrade (I don't own the Switch 1 version), and DK Bananza. So probably somewhere around $750-$800. I will probably get Prime 4 and the new Pokemon Legends eventually but I don't need those right away.

Upscaled BOTW/TOTK and Windwaker for NSO will take up some of my time too.

 

I missed the fact that GameCube is only on Switch 2! Disappointing, guess the regular Switch can’t run games from 2003

 

I think Nintendo is the most exciting developer going right now. Its been a while since Ive thought that, but its nice to have them back on top.

 

finished Jedi survivor. ohhhh boy. alright. it’s a good game for sure. it has some of the best platforming I’ve ever experienced, great level design, good story and voice acting too. the core fantasy of the combat is solid don’t get me wrong, but jfc some of the mechanics and the design of the enemies/encounters just did not work for me at all. certain trash mob encounters were just poorly designed, enemy design was also just all over the place, your combat arsenal does not hold up when they throw multiple high power mobs at you I legitimately thought a few of these encounters were actually impossible (playing on medium). they weren’t and I got through but it was so frustrating at times. I’m thinking of one specific one where these mobs are on the ground floor and more run out from ledges up top and you legitimately cannot target the ones up on the ledges and your confusion focus will look toward them without targeting them. it was fucking stupid. there was like four waves in that one too. horrible. and some of the boss fights…like Jesus man the Vader fight was rife with QTEs and cutscenes that would absolutely botch moves I was trying to pull off and you could easily blow it in a late phase and have to start all over. other bosses were so piss easy I was surprised they were bosses (not the door man that was actually funny). just a really uneven experience when it came to combat for me. and the performance on ps5 was quite bad, textures loaded in weird, visual glitches, the weird thing I mentioned where some cut scenes looked like a movie and some looked like an alpha build. I also think the story dragged on after the last Dagan fight. a lot of padding in the last five or so hours imo. I think another six months to a year in the oven woulda made this a 9/10 but unfortunately it’s landing at a 7.5 maybe an 8 for me

 

The thing I fear the most is that. Nintendo leasing the charge with $80 games is gonna prove to be successful and we'll see Sony and MS follow.

I don't think I'll pick one up at launch, I'll wait until the next MonolithSoft game or must-have switch exclusive jrpg.

 

I’m definitely pre ordering the switch 2 but I only have a switch lite so playing upgraded Zelda’s (I have nso expansion +) on a tv is worth the price of admission for me

 

Switch 2 battery stuff isn’t as world ending as it’s being made out to be, it’s the exact same range as Steam Decks. Considering how similar the performance specs are for the two machines I think it all checks out. Just be thankful for the charging port at the top of the console to allow easier charge and play sessions.

 

This is, frankly, a godsend.

I had a few days off and randomly started playing super Metroid, never played it before. This may be the best snes game I've played other than dkc2. Genuinely enjoying every part of it thus far.
