People are already being weird about the new FromSoft game. I'm wondering how many great games they have to make for people to finally actually trust them on something new

Daemon x Machina is easily my favorite game of show but I think it's multi plat. I'm sure there will eventually be a system seller for me though.

I'm pretty sure some people hate this idea, and maybe rightfully so if I'm being a dingus, but games really should be priced based on the long term value. Like Mario kart - that is endless hours of entertainment for multiple people at once, sure I'll pay more. A single player game done in 15 hours then over? maybe not so much.

But I do know that quantifying / qualifying that isn't easy - whatabout short and top tier vs short and meh?

Idk... $80 / $90 is insane though in general.

Rockstar does not deserve $100 of my money for GTA6. They make plenty of fucking money off the online shit. Give me a goddamn break.

Yeah I just think it's hard to figure it out. If people were being paid the way they should be (like Josh said) and we were all making ends meet I'd 100% agree that it should be based on the value of the amount of entertainment provided. But like a lot of these short games are so resource intensive that I don't see how that would be feasible. Games like Slay The Spire and Balatro have tons of replay value and are not resource intensive, but I don't think you should have to pay $80 for something like that. And there's the obvious opposite where a lot of work can be put into something that ends up being a 20 hr experience and really demands that upper charge to make up for the cost of making it in the first place. I dunno, just feels impossible to actually make that work

The closest we get to that is the MMO model and that model really doesn't feel good

How much a game should be priced is based on how much the gaming community is willing to pay. They're gonna keep raising the prices until the community decides to vote no with their wallets.

Idk I feel like popular entertainment shouldn’t be that expensive. Also some of the “physical” games just being a box with a key? Go kick rocks.

I think it needs to be clarified that it's not really just the gaming community. It also includes the people who play 1 game every other year and shell out the $80 for that 1 game (Madden, COD, RDR2, whatever it is) and there are a LOT of those people

Gaming community could shake the FOMO and make a statement but they'd be heavily outnumbered by those other people, or the parents buying games for kids who want those games and don't know better

The gaming community won't shake the FOMO. They'll pay whatever the price is.

Yeah they won't. They COULD though and I don't think it'd move the needle, I think we'd still have the same result. But yeah you're right that they won't shake the FOMO

I thought it was Clair Obscur month. That's a decent list for Game Pass though. I might finally play Borderlands 3 because I sure as hell was never gonna buy it. Was thinking about buying Diablo 3 recently, so nice timing. Also, Hunt Showdown is still one of the most unique games available these days.

Yeah, i'm with you. If GTA VI ends up being $100, I'm gonna skip it and wait for a Steam sale (and that's when/if we get a PC release at all LOL). Don't care if i miss out on all the hype and have the entire story ruined for me from Reddit posts and Youtube thumbnails over the proceeding years, the FOMO isn't worth $100. Sorry, but Nintendo and the rest of the gaming industry can kick rocks if they think $80+ games should the norm.

I really hope this greed leads to declining sales across all platforms. You wanna charge $80+ for a single game? Fine, but wait till people are only buying one or two games a year total and see how you feel about it then.
