Yeah especially considering Origins has been marked down as low as $30 before. I think that's how much I paid for it when I bought it last summer. I think $70 would be a good price for Odyssey + Origins at this point.

 

Got Odyssey on Black Friday for like $27. Great buy.

I’m seeing live video games everyone.

 

Was bored, so I bought Perfect Dark. The XBLA version. I haven't played PD since the year it was released on N64. Was pretty sure it wasn't going to hold up because Goldeneye definitely doesn't, but nah. I completely forgot how far ahead PD was at the time. Love the gadgets and all the weapons have secondary functions. Its game design is more modern than I thought and it translates well to modern controllers.

 

I was always soooo hyped when the 360 was about to launch that Rare had been acquired, and about to make PDZ/Kameo for the launch. Then those games came out....

Well Kameo was a good swimming in 7s imo.

 

Imo Rare’s exclusives for MS were always so so, and never met the potential of their amazing N64 run.

I had a blast with it when it was pretty barebones. haven’t been keeping up with it though, what’s the biggest change?

 

There’s a story now apparently and an arena.

If I want to take a break from Seven Spears should I just progress forward, to the dungeons, or to where that npc is hanging out where you start the game?

 

Most of the games they made for the N64 haven't aged well at all. It was just a different time with much lower expectations for games. I mean, Goldeneye would run at 10-15 fps often, had a crappy weapon sandbox, and level design that is only really fun when speed running. But it was acclaimed. That shit would never happen today.

People think Rare got worse. They didn't. It's that everyone else got better and Rare was left behind. They've had their moments, but they'll never be what they once were because the industry will never be what it once was. I've always wondered when people would realize that perhaps Rare was never all that great to begin with. Maybe it would free them of the N64 era that's unfairly haunted them since the beginning of the sixth generation.

I don't know. I have mixed feelings about Rare. I don't think they've ever been all that great, but I also feel sorry for them.

 

Donkey Kong 64 is such an infuriating game to play
