I think it's a fantastic idea. You do the same thing for your phone, no? Probably pay more per month on your phone.

Man, I love CD Projekt Red. Most companies would give you a short pre-rendered gameplay demo video, CD gives us a nearly hour long video of what they’re working on complete with narration. This game is going to be epic.

Also, a tiny thing but I love how the NPC’s appears as floating subtitles you can see through stuff, it’s nifty.

Apparently that video is basically the e3 demo

That makes sense, it’s pretty complete for a gameplay demo.

It’s a great plan because Xbox Live etc. is far more lucrative than actually selling hardware (which is often sold at a loss) so the last thing they want is you being locked out of spending money on those subscriptions because you can’t afford the initial asking price of the box

I really don't think that financing thing is that huge of a deal. It's cool, but it's not some ground-breaking thing

It’s more the complete package. They’re basically turning a video game console into a service.

    $35 x 24mo = $840

    Xbox One X = $500
    XBL for 2 years (60/yr) = $120
    Game Pass for 2 years (10/mo) = $240
    --------------
    Total = $860

So you save $20 over two years. My concern is after 2 years, you're sill paying for the console, even though at that point it'd be paid off.

Also, the wording states "starting at..", I wonder what add-ons they will have that will increase your monthly price.

it says starting at for Xbox One S so it just probably meant Xbox One X pricing would be different.

    It's on both.

Get an Xbox One S with Xbox All Access starting at $21.99 per month with 0% APR for 24-months^—a savings of over $130. This is one of the most value-driven ways to join the Xbox family we’ve ever offered.

Xbox One X, the world’s most powerful console, with Xbox All Access starts at $34.99 per month with 0% APR for 24-months.^ It’s a fantastic combination of power and affordability.

I think after 2 years you stop paying the hardware part

Is that how it works with iPhone as well? I paid in full for my X so I'm not sure how it works. After 2 years does the monthly bill drop significantly since you're no longer paying for hardware?

Depends on the telecom provider. From what I’ve seen Microsoft plans to do it automatically.

The future of video games! ;-)

But I think this is how Microsoft envisioned it with this generation initially. More of service than just a physical item.

I'm usually a person who tends to pay everything off right except of course car so that wouldn't interest me.

but as a casual consumer it sounds like a super good deal with how good game pass and GWG is usually.

Yup, I'm the same way; car included. I have 0 debts.

I feel like it would be cheaper just to buy the console outright and pay for the services than the whole package but I’m not who it’s selling to.
