What games do you 'grind' that don't contain RPG elements?

 

I think grinding isn’t that much of a thing anymore. Bad “mission design“ or whatever you want to call it however is. If a long game has that then it’s extra bad.

 

you literally said grinding isn't actual content when it is. it's a big part of RPGs and people like me and oldjers love it

 

rpgs or games with rpg elements? how about non rpgs published by a publisher that’s published an rpg in the last couple years?

to answer your question:
rpgs, strategy games, loot box games, tons of multiplayer shooters, phone games, rts games

 

I remember seeing a video series of a guy grinding to level 99 in the FF7 starting area

it took like 400 hours

 

I’m not here to attack or tell you rpgs or whatever are bad unequivocally. I’m here to talk about (while we’re on the topic that I didn’t even bring up) the idea that some recycle content heavily.

tbf its a common thing. hell, cod multi is recycled content in 20 minutes matches

 

That's true. But if the core mechanics are good, that doesn't have to be a bad thing. In fact, in many cases it's why people play those games.

 

Exactly, if the mechanics are fun, it's a major bummer when the game is short

Same, I honestly couldn't care less about the story. If it's good, them I'm pleasantly surprised. If not I don't care. I'm in it for the gameplay. It's why I love Octopath so much

 

I've been wanting to play Octopath again, just pick 4 characters and play.

Some of the storylines were great, others were flat.

 

I'd rather have a short game than have a significant portion of it be grinding 100000 percent of the time

 

(also why Gen 1 is one of the weaker Pokemon gens)

 

Gen 1 is great. It just oversaturates their content now.

 

I mean yeah it's great but all of them sans IV are great haha. It's still bottom three tho

Digimon is better than Pokemon, except for the Cyber Sleuth games, those are awful.

 

I’m in a middle spot right now because I can understand a price increase on games because they are expensive but also for someone like me wages aren’t going up much to help justify getting more games. Everything is going up except wages and it sucks. I have to work crazy hours just to ensure I can afford to live a semi decent life. Idk I got too personal but yeah I’m looking into getting a ps2 that’s about it.

 

I don't think that's too personal. So many of my friends got laid off because of the pandemic and they're making significantly more on unemployment than they did working two jobs.

It's not that the prices going up is fucked, it's that the whole concept of money right now is fucked.

Yeah some of them aren't great. I've done two playthroughs, one with four characters and the other with the remaining four. It can definitely get repetitive if you're not into the characters.

I'm playing Fire Red rn lol

 

Fire Red/Leaf Green will probably go down as the only ones I haven't played. Still haven't played Sw/Sh or HG/SS but I'll get to those.
