A lot of recent open world games follow BotW formula. Ie favoring exploration over “checklist” quests, ability to glide/fly, very limited map markers, overall just very big map designs with tons of secrets etc.

 

It probably sounds like I listed a bunch of open world formulas. Another example is GoT exploration being very inspired by BotW. Esp the wind mechanic instead of a general waypoint system.

 

the climbing of BotW would feel that way too if it already weren’t for games like Ass Creed

 

The climbing blows anything AC did out of the water

 

I do dig the SotC style fatigue meter stuff in the climbing - that legitimately would be cool in more games

Nah, you’re right, that is completely obnoxious and that’s bad UI design.

 

You can “unfollow” games somehow I’m pretty sure. I don’t have one, but I remember watching a giant bomb vid a few weeks ago where someone was complaining about exactly this and they were able to unfollow.

Also apparently the way it counts “follows”, like in the case of Fortnite, is if your PS account has EVER played Fortnite. So, on ps4 if you ever downloaded it probably.

I have Alan Wake downloaded through game pass, do I have to play that before Control or no? I think I read somewhere that they were somewhat connected but maybe that was just the DLC

Alan Wake is better than Control though.

 

Control is great, but there's just a few things about it that make it less charming and special. Also, the DLC is really cool the way it connects the universes and gives hints towards things.

Alan Wake is one of my biggest disappointments

love all the media that inspired it. love Remedy. hate that game. the gameplay mechanic, enemies, and story are garbage imo.

I remember playing Alan Wake but I remember so little about itz

 

So a bit late to this but I’m currently playing Doom Eternal and RDR2 campaigns at the same time. Not bad for scratching both itches
