    Fuck it, I'll say it:
Crossfire X is legit a ton of fun to play. I get the reviews/scores, but man this is a throwback 360 shooter and I am HERE for it.

Yeah Kotaku is the only one of those I've ever read with any frequency and even that I haven't read nearly as much since Jason Schreier left. Fuck 'em.

Their parent company sucks, but Kotaku has sucked for years and then they made Patricia Hernandez Editor-in-chief who spouted their "amazing vision" and the site is somehow even worse.

I love that people are striking and unionizing, but people like Jason made the right call to jump ship.

For someone who has never played a Souls game, any tips for starting out Elden Ring? I made my character, got confused at all the glowing messages on the ground and exactly how to play the game. I'm picking shit up, there's a gigantic inventory. It's a bit much all at once. Then I see some dude on a beast, he runs up and one hit kills me.

    Any tips?

I would say seek out some youtube videos, they can get you on the right page rather than getting a bunch of random tidbits from here.

watch all of this and it should set you off down the right path. it explains not only Elden Ring but generally how to play a Soulsborne. it convinced my brother to jump in. Vaatividya is a great resource and Bandai Namco asked them to make it.

Honestly just keep playing. You don’t need any of that shit at first. If you pick up a new item, read it’s description. The game looks way more daunting than it is. Have fun, play safely and don’t rush things :)

and keep in mind sometimes the game’s gonna fuck you and that’s part of the fun lol

im making a playlist of guides that have helped me

and also this video in particular really directed my first moves in the game.

once you find a pack of enemies you feel confident you can defeat without dying dont be afraid to reset them at a point of grace to kill them multiple times for runes to level up, i grinded a lot on the guards right outside the first big gate and on these little stone goblin lookin dudes further east underneath a big round structure that acts as a bridge (theres a guy with a side quest for you on top of there btw). theres some other good early farming spots for runes like the limgrave tunnels which also has good smithing stones to upgrade your weapons with which is crucial in feeling stronger and being able to take down tougher enemies and bosses.

also the glowing messages are just notes from other players, i largely ignore them since most are just trolls. if im real desperate i will start looking for one i think might be sincere on what to do lol.

I havent played so I can't really comment but it is slightly weird to me that they developed this huge brooding, dark world and then just let everyone shitpost all over it

to be fair it's been this way since Demon's Souls 13 years ago but you have a point lol

That makes it tolerable haha but it’s also kind of interesting to consider how it is done through items in game and some parallel universe lore theories although I know very little about the lore as is it just seems the co-op and pvp are deliberately implemented through items you acquire in the game

Ive played every souls game offline and cant imagine doing it any other way. Messages/ bloodstains just add so much clutter.
