I really love how easy it is to whip the mount out and go double jumping all over the map. Makes the open world so much more fun.

Playing Xenoblade 2, I’m enjoying it a lot so far. I have a high tolerance for anime tropes if the gameplay is interesting enough. After beating that and Triangle Strategy my quest for a PS5 begins.

  11. maybe I'm just out of touch but I can't imagine who the Steam Deck is for; it seems like a Switch but without Nintendo games, so objectively worse?

I personally don't have a gaming PC so it gives me the chance to play games on Steam that I normally wouldn't be able to play, with the added bonus of taking it on the go. The downside is the cost, which will likely keep me from buying one.

Not a fan of the new character, but the new Olympus is amazing and the Alternator is back on the ground

  14. fair enough, maybe I just don't use Steam enough; PC games I'd want to play like Hades and Stardew Valley I already have on Switch

I'm a macbook user who wants to play a lot of PC exclusive games! It's also incredibly more powerful than the switch.

I’m just using my son as an excuse to get one. Don’t know if I’ll actually play it

I would get a Steam Deck just because I'd love to be able to play my library anywhere I want to, but the compatibility isn't where I'd like it to be (and I don't have the money), so I'll just wait until it gets better (and cheaper).

Switch doesn't have everything (yet), so I definitely see the niche that the Steam Deck is filling.

  20. For anyone on the fence about Elden Ring because of difficulty, don’t worry about it. Souls games get a lot of flack for being hard, but that’s not exactly right. They just approach difficulty differently. Fromsoft games clicked for me when I stopped thinking that death was getting in my way and I realized that dying frequently was part of the gameplay. You are totally supposed to die over and over again; getting your souls back is a bonus, not a requirement; and eventually you will beat that roadblock and feel so good about it and you will totally understand why people love these games so much. It is also completely fine to use a guide and summon help for every single boss—those things are there for a reason.

I only game on my PC and having the majority of my games on a handheld is appealing to me. I also want a switch but I won’t want to rebuy all the games I already have on steam, I’ll just be getting Nintendo stuff

I love my Switch, but honestly? Nintendo games aren't a huge reason why I have it haha. I've always been a portable gamer. I had a high end laptop when I was younger, Vita, 3DS, GBA, PSP, etc. I don't have a gaming PC and I don't want one, I love the idea of being able to play all these games I missed out on from my couch or in bed or at a friend's house.

There's so many games that haven't made it to console or Switch in particular that now I get to finally check out.

Yeah I would have to check how many games I have that are compatible before committing to getting one

To be fair, just because a game is not “verified steam deck compatible” doesn’t mean it won’t work on the system. Like, I imagine there’s some kind of verification process for that, devs might even have to pay for it. And how many small indie devs are going to go through that process? Especially before the hardware is even officially released.
