I just got through this part last night, very interested to see where it goes.

 

Elden Ring is something I’d love to dive into if it were a game that had difficulty settings, but without them ehhh… It looks gorgeous, but games are something I play when I get home from work or on the weekend to mostly just relax and turn my brain off to, and so the whole Souls type thing has never been for me. I get that that obviously isn’t what they’re going for, but I read one review that said something like “ER can still deliver the same satisfaction after a gruelling, hours long boss fight” and that just sounds absolutely horrible to me lol

 

I’m also a firm believer that ALL story driven games should have accessibility options/god modes, etc. I don’t think art or a story, whatever, should be only accessible to those of certain skill levels or abilities

 

IGN put out an article showing all of the games they've reviewed as a 10.

Right there with you! Elden Ring looks absolutely amazing in every single way. But I wish there was a difficulty setting too. I'm not into dying 10,000 times before finally winning a boss fight.

I'm just going to keep enjoying Horizon for now til I muster the courage to pick up ER lol

 

how much of elden rings long play time is due to death

 

I have reviewed myself out this afternoon and nearly everyone (even outlets that have been pretty difficult on souls games before) are saying the difficulty is very accessible and approachable.

Pretty much universally agreed that this is the “easiest” title FromSoft has developed.

 

It's clearly not their best game, I don't know how anyone can say that when they made Armored Core

 

A youtuber named Iron Pineapple stated he had played about 60 hours he is a long time player and said he feels he is about 80 percent through (estimation) he said he figured newer players would be around 80 hours at the same point.

This is the most forgiving game as far as dying, you can respawn real close to where you die generally and boss fights. Which is fantastic.

 

Also first souls game with full blown fast travel.

 

BRING BACK ARMORED CORE please

 

Yall need to cool the hype and wait for my review on Elden Rings to put some perspective on it. Having never played a souls game before, being generally bad at button smashing, difficult combat games and someone who also struggles with navigation and gets lost even with a mini-map to follow, you're going to WANT to hear my opinion.

 

the dark souls games are hella long from what ive seen. tons of areas.

 

when you level up you deal more damage. if you spent alot of extra time leveling bosses would be easier.

Yeah the “present day” tribal stuff is still whatever (although better than the last game imo) but all the Zero Dawn/Far Zenith stuff continues to be fascinating.

 

Elden Ring will be my first From game

Same but it’s gonna be a few weeks until I buy it

 

From games don’t really have a story and no amount of easy mode would make you slog through their games if you want any sort of cohesive narrative.

at best something like an exploration mode I can see happen.

and once again, the easy mode is the same for every RPG: grinding. God knows it’s how I beat them. At some point you will have more health than god. Add to that the ability to summon a coop partner before almost every boss and most from games ain’t that hard.

that said Japan desperately needs to learn from the west when it comes to accessibility.

 

25 or so hours into HFW, I'm still consistently amazed at how good the voice acting and animation (face and body) is for literally every NPC I come across.

 

Also I'm scared to death that I'm going to torture myself with a thousand Elden Ring deaths, after promising myself I wouldn't do it.

 

I just don’t want to buy a game full price just to get stonewalled in the first 10 hours and give up

 

I’m building pure dexterity like my dark souls build tbh

 

If Elden Ring was part of the Armored Core series, it would be an instant buy for me.

I'm just sick of fantasy games mostly.
