    Was I a writer dreaming I was a spider or a spider dreaming I was a writer?

I'm legit upset that they wasted Swarm in a tie-in comic instead of saving him to be in a future Spider-Man game.

  3. I know people have different tolerances for it, but AW1’s gameplay was too dated for me. I ended up watching a story summary on YouTube. I’m hyped for 2 though and plan to play it once I finish up Spider-Man 2, which I’m absolutely loving.

  6. There are so many cool weapons in BC1 and up, it's great that there's accessibility options to, uh, access everything without making it too difficult

Been progressing through Chapter 2 and I'm so happy with all the Sky character reunions that are going to be happening.

    NO NEW GAME NOVEMBER 2023

This year for the month of November I have come up with a concept called No New Game November which I will outline below. Throughout the year of 2023 I have been keeping track of the games I finish each month, with the word ‘ finish’ constituting simply rolling the credits (if the game has a closing credit reel) which is different than ‘completing’ a game by doing every single piece of content available.

Like a lot of people, I have a tendency to start games without ever making it to the credits which makes my backlog pile up more and more. Most games I put more than a few hours into I have every intention of beating but I have a habit of starting something new before rolling credits on the previous game thus making my “in progress” games list never ending and always growing. Alternatively, once those credits roll I very rarely continue playing to achieve the aforementioned ‘completion’ aspect or to experience a game more than once (at least until a very long time has passed).

As an enthusiast, I would like to experience as many games as I possibly can, and while my method is an efficient way to do this I do tend to miss out on opportunities to play the same game multiple times and witness different outcomes or things I missed the first time, on top of failures to finish a game before starting a new one. I feel like both of these problems can be a detriment to my video game consumption. And so I have devised a list of rules for the month of November to try and build better habits in my gaming, as follows.

-If I have purchased a game but haven’t started it I CANNOT play it this month.
-If I have started a game and pick up from where I last left off, I CAN play it this month
-If I have started a game but feel like I need to start over because I’m too lost or confused about what’s going on, I CANNOT play it this month
-if I have already beaten a game but want to start over from the beginning to play it again, I CAN play it this month
-If I have already beaten a game but want to experience more content within it after the credits roll, I CAN play it this month

That’s about it as far as rules go! There are a couple things I hope to accomplish here, with the obvious one being some progress on my never ending back log even if just a little bit. I also hope to spend less money on games that I won’t play right away, as I already own way too many games that I need to start. Adding more to my collection will just increase anxiety over how many games I need to start. And while I can’t start any of those games this month, clearing out the games I need to finish will make room for those in the future.

Playing as many games as I possibly can isn’t necessarily my goal, and as someone who used to try to listen to every single new music release that I possibly could I have a habit of constant consumption of media to further my breadth of knowledge and experience at the cost of making a real lasting connection. My real goal here is to use this month as a launching off point for building better habits with my video game intake and try to spend more time with the games I play and see them through to the end. Obviously stuff happens and moving onto the next thing before I’m done with the current thing is going to happen, but I would like it to happen less. It’s not something I’ll ever fully stop doing as I also have an interest in collecting physical video game media for select platforms, and in those cases I will frequently buy games I may never actually play but from a collection point of view I think that’s fine. It’s the consumption side of things I would like to improve so I can have more meaningful experiences with more games that stick with me for longer and get more play than just a single one and done play through (given I enjoy the game enough to do so).

And that’s about it! If you are interested I will likely be streaming some games I’m playing for this months project on twitch periodically and posting about them on X along with screenshots and brief impressions along the way! If I finish a few games this month I’ll be happy, if I get to revisit a few games I haven’t touched in ages this month, I’ll be happy, but I just wanted to try something new other than my usual “play 2-4 games this month and move on” goal I’ve been on for most of the year. Thanks for reading!

copied from my notes app. we begin in a day and a half :) excuse any typos or unclear wording I did this in one quick pass

I'll admit I didn't read all of that but I read enough to know I can safely go with a "happy for you" and not a "sorry that happened".

EDIT: I really hope you take this as the joke I intend cause I don't want to fight when I have to wake up and go to work in the morning.

    Player's Log: Trails To Azure.

Had to stop cause it's getting late, but I'm almost done with Chapter 2.

I unfortunately forgot to scan a monster somewhere along the way that I'll never see again until NG+, but then again, I can't scan every monster until NG+ anyway so...

I've also been thinking about that and I'm not sure I'm going to go for full achievements on this game. I'll get as many as I can, but I might just keep moving on through the series and go back for full achievements down the road. I haven't decided yet.

I also think that instead of playing Cold Steel next when I'm done, I'll play Boundless Trails instead, even though how connected it is to the overall Trails series is nebulous right now at best. But it being an action-RPG instead of a turn-based will offer a nice change of pace, I feel.

I was hoping this would pique the interest of a few of you to see how I would go about it and what I’m trying to get out of it and why, but mostly I kept thinking “I hope @mescalineeyes thinks I’m cool for this” and I’m not joking

God Alan Wake 1 is sick, I absolutely suck at it, I've died probably 4 times as many times then I did in the Dead Space remake

Episode 4 The fight on the stage was simultaneously really awesome but frustrating because I died like 7 times there, missed the fog lamp flashlight until the last couple goes so that probably didn't help
