Enjoying Lords of the Fallen so far. Some minor performance issues early on but nothing for a while.

my issue was that the agility character starts off weak as shit and it can be frustrating. Thankfully just found a good weapon for agility and absolutely wrecked a boss.

Their entry on "record" has "The meaning "disk on which sounds or images have been recorded" is attested from 1878, originally also of Edison's wax cylinders, later extended somewhat to other forms of sound storage. Record-player is attested from 1919; record-album " audio recordings issued as a collection" is by 1936. Earlier it was "an album in which to store Edison cylinders."" (bolding mine)

What this is saying is that "record" as a noun, attested from 1878, refers to a single composition or recording pressed onto material for storage and playback—ie a single. The term "record-album" initially referred to a collection of these records (as described earlier in this thread) in some sort of container or folder. That meaning was then extended to having multiple recordings on a single piece of storage, ie the modern LP.

It's all foolishness, of course. The point is that there's nothing inherently wrong or ungrammatical about "vinyls," it's just convention, and the term is certainly common enough that a strident "you can't ever say vinyls because that doesn't make sense grammatically" is misplaced.
