grammar lesson folks:

viny is short for vinyl record so the plural is vinyl records aka vinyl because you wouldn’t say vinyls records

 

That's not how plural rules work. By that reasoning, since "record" is short for "record-album," and you would never say "records-albums," you can't pluralize "record," and indeed you'd have to say "vinyl record-albums" if you ever wanted to talk about more than one.

"Vinyls" is perfectly fine.

I have a shirt that says the plural of vinyl is vinyl so my shirt is definitely right

 

In fact, after some digging, it looks like the word album in the context of music actually came from "record albums" that you could buy to hold your records, similar to a photo album.

 

I googled it and the first two results were from the two most reliable sources in the world: Reddit and Wikipedia.
