I don’t think you could ever use a real guitar like you could with Rocksmith.

Rock Band did release this monstrosity “pro guitar” that was supposed to be more like playing a real guitar, it had actual chords and strings and stuff and worked as a MIDI guitar. But it was still just buttons on the frets, not actual strings, and personal accounts of playing it are that it was nothing like a real guitar lol.

Iirc, the pro drum set was an okay electronic drum set

 

All those anime where the protagonist practices how to date by playing eroge VNs.

I had a lot of fun with it. The guitar hero drum set up was better than rock bands since it had symbols placed somewhat realistically and felt more like real drums

 

When they introduced practice mode in world tour I would load up songs in drum practice so the drum track was just absent if you didn’t hit any pads and would play along on real drums instead

 

"Why don't you play real guitar' was the biggest boomer sentiment in like 2008 when these games peaked in popularity.

I hated the guitaro drumset, felt incredibly flimsy compared to the RB2 Kit

 

At least GH offered a second drum pedal for the double bass parts in the Metallica game

 

Double kick ass introduced in RB3 expert mode I believe? Though most songs weren't charted for it.
