the silent hill tv thing does seem like itll ultimately be dumb. and like why lead with that? release one of the games first. but its hard to be too mad with the games on the horizon. as a huge fan, before all this it was just pain.

Bad week for Bungie. Also they were getting dunked on Twitter for harmful Hispanic stuff?

 

I dunno, I've seen some of those replies, and frankly I'd probably hide them too. They seem less like they're "correcting [Bungie's] cultural imperialism" and more like they're just complaining because they don't like the terms Latinx/Latine.

I don't like them either, personally; I think they're a little silly, and too often overused by non–Spanish speakers to, indeed, virtue signal. But both have their origins (or at least strong roots) in Spanish-speaking LGBT populations, particularly nonbinary groups, and there are certainly groups that genuinely appreciate and identify with those terms... so, I dunno, it seems backward to criticize Bungie for using terms that are demonstrably endorsed by some of the people they're referring to—and hiding those criticisms doesn't really seem like a problem in my eyes.

There are a ton of things to criticize about Bungie for sure. But the Hispanic Awareness Month stuff seems overblown.

I like Crunchyroll. I feel like I've just somehow avoided all the problems other people have had with the app which seems to be the largest complaints I see.

But like, they have all the content I want and their app works for me on the devices I own so I don't have a problem with them.

I do see a bunch of people who complain about English localization and voice overs and such, but I also feel there's a group of people who are just like "fuck Crunchyroll, just pirate/stream" because they don't want to pay or whatever and there's almost certainly a venn diagram with them and people who think "always morally acceptable to pirate Nintendo games" and then pirate the new Bayonetta game the day it comes out.

 

Speaking of CR, guess they did a really shit job on subs for a new anime series airing. Clearly just a machine translation.
