I had to pace myself during act 3 and eventually told myself to try and wrap up one quest line per night after a week of getting lost in the sauce

    Player’s Log:
MK1’s campaign mode was awesome. Amazing visuals and good voice acting. Great for new players and the stuff that does reference previous games is explained really well.
I’m onto the Invasions mode and it’s a lot different. Interesting mechanics.

Started this game on GamePass and it’s essentially a cooking game but with a very heartfelt story.

Stuck on. Boss in Lies of P. I’ve come so close several times and once one hit away. It’s just a very tiring battle. Two phases and they are very different. It’s exhausting.

feel I’m playing it about as perfectly as I can and still come up short

  12. No one explained to my how characters are unlocked in mk1 so I looked it up and it's actually pretty straightforward. I'll probably buy it when the ultimate edition is twenty bucks

Player's Log: Trails In The Sky the 3rd.

So I've been playing this all day, and as promised, this is a weird one.

It almost feels like fan-fiction, and not in a bad way, but just the concept of "hey, let's throw all these characters in one dungeon and see what they do" feels very much the opposite of what an RPG is typically like.

It also is a really short game. There's eight chapters and a prologue, and if all the chapters are roughly the same length, then I'm already halfway through the game after only one day. I'm on Chapter 4. And the chapters are fairly short as well. One chapter was literally just taking two teams of four across a two-screen dungeon segment.

The meat of the game is pretty much as I explained previously. Kevin and his new sidekick start the ball rolling, and as you travel the floors of the dungeon, you find objects that contain new characters that you then unlock in your base camp, and add to your party, and move the plot along.

Then there are "doors" throughout the dungeon that will only unlock if you have a certain character in your party, or meet a certain condition. And these "doors", when entered, will play little vignettes that give you insight into events that either took place after the second game, or just fill in backstory. For example, right now I'm playing a segment that sheds light on Kloe's time in Jenis Royal Academy.

It's... a weird way to play the game, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It does feel sometimes though like Falcom tried too hard to butter bread with too little butter.

As an example, you still have a Recipe Book and get recipes you can cook through the game, but because the game is so short, you're getting recipes with such frequency that it feels like a waste. Like, you'll find three recipes in a row on one dungeon segment. It makes it hard to really see the purpose in it.

I'll also say that I'm glad I'm cheating because if I didn't and I tried to play on Nightmare mode, I'd be creamed. Even the most basic enemies will hit you for thousands of damage points in Nightmare mode. Clearly intended either for New Game+ or for people who are insane. Of course I'm playing in Nightmare mode for the achievements tied to it.

Anyway, I go back to work tomorrow, so I don't expect to get too much farther, but I do fully expect to finish the game over the weekend and move on to the Crossbell saga, Trails From Zero and Trails To Azure.

Yeah I beat it in like 20 hours. Was confused when I saw other people saying it took them upwards of 40 hours

I’m pretty sure they were doing a major rework of the game after the negative response to the state of play gameplay reveal? Could be wrong but I thought that’s what happened

So happy 'The Man Who Erased His Name' is getting added to GP day one. Was going to be a day one purchase for me, and my budget for day one purchases is being severely drained this year...

This is the most important video game announcement this year. Maybe even this decade.
