Quake II remaster is fantastic

 

Just started that this morning, never played a Quake game before but it's already so sick

 

This Twitter account has some great random game content. It's an older woman from New Zeland who just posts stuff she likes or is trying out. I love it.

 

The back compat games will still be purchasable on Xbox One and Series consoles. The ones that aren't though, unfortunately will be gone unless they have physical copies. Prepare for price hikes on those. As for the XBLA games, they'll be gone if they weren't released on other platforms. End of an era indeed. If anyone still has a 360 lying around and is curious about which games will likely be hard to get after the shut down, the delistedgames website is probably a good bet to pay attention to in the future.

Personally, I still use my 360 from time to time. It's good that I'll still be able to download the stuff I purchased but who knows how long that'll stay up. Hopefully forever but most likely not. That will probably be the very last thing they shut down along with the entire live service itself.

Also, I highly doubt them doing a movie has any impact on them resurrecting a franchise.

 

Do you mean that a film doesn't mean they're working on a game?

I don't know, there's been at least some relative synergy between Sony's film and TV projects and the games they're based on.

Ratchet And Clank had a remake when the film came out, Uncharted had the Legacy Collection on Steam, and The Last Of Us had its remake.

I would be surprised if they didn't use the opportunity, let's say that.

Where indeed.

 

The three games you listed and the coinciding movies are all current and or recent games. If the movies do well, MAYBE we will see a game. But I don’t see kids CLAMORING for Jak & Dexter. Ok parents that grew up with it but that doesn’t scream widespread appeal. Now casting Spider-Man in one of the roles is a selling point but did Uncharted do well even with a live version of Tom Holland?


My take on the matter is all hypothetical and could be completely nonsense btw

 

Where’s my Killzone movie, Sony?

 

They released the first two Twisted Metal games on PS Plus literally right around the launch of the show and there have been talks about a potential reboot for years now.

If it was a studio that isn't Naughty Dog, I could easily see a reboot of Jak and Dexter or just a remake of the originals.

 

Do movies and games go hand in hand? No, but there's definitely a marketing strategy behind it and there's especially a difference when it's coming from Sony opposed to something like Nintendo.

The TV shows and movies Sony has right now are Gran Turismo, Twisted Metal, Uncharted, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us and potentially Jak and Dexter.

I would not be shocked if any of those get new entries or if they didn't want to spread brand awareness for potential future releases/all the games on their current gen systems.
