Player's Log: Trails In The Sky

I'm almost done with Chapter 1. I just got the key to the old mine door.

I don't know a lot about this series, but so far the game's story seems interestingly grounded. A lot of JRPGs tend to have end-of-the-world stakes, and for all I know this might, but so far there doesn't seem to be any talk of anything really magical or potentially world-destroying. Just matters of national security.

I also opted today to play while listening to music instead of the voices I patched in. I think I made a good decision. Gets through the dialogue faster and I can catch up on some albums. I'm sure I'm missing part of the experience this way, but eh. Oh well.

I think a bunch of you already follow but twitch.tv/scottsurette if not. just streamed the Palia closed beta last week, and speaking of which it's now in open beta and it's very good. everyone should be playing Palia, it's Animal Crossing/Stardew Valley meets World of Warcraft.

 

Glad you're getting the gist of the story. Considering the series spans a huge amount of games, it has a TON of world building. Personally I'm only on SC (Second Chapter) which is the game directly after the one you're on and I'm nearing the end I think. I've been familiar with the series since forever, I remember playing the first game on the PSP and I'm playing SC on the Vita.

I worked at a small game store when I got out of high school and we had a massive amount of 360s in stock so we held a bundle deal to get rid of some consoles + games we had a ton of stock of


I tossed Blur and Enslaved in those mf bundles. Loved those games

There's always little gems that are left in the dust for each generation. It's sad because they're usually games that I think if marketed differently or released at a different time would have done quite well. Sometimes they just get absolutely clobbered and overlooked by amazing games that came out the same month or year.

The infamous Titanfall 2 situation where it was stuck between two huge shooters.

Folklore on PS3 was pretty good but kind of got written off as a launch game despite coming out a year after the console launched. The Puppeteer is another great one on PS3.

The PS3 might have some of the best games no one has every played.
