i wonder if the souls bosses will be much easier if/when i beat elden ring and go back to them

imo the elden ring bosses have seemed alot harder

i still havent beaten a From game but I get “it” now and plan to go back to them because i love it

I don't think there's anything wrong with like...using what the game gives you haha. Plus a ton of the fun of playing these games on release is the community of figuring things out and sharing them with each other and learning cool things about the game, including things that are fun to use in certain situations.

I've beaten bosses without help but what I'll definitely say is I've NEVER done a FromSoftware NPC sidequest without help from people posting somewhere or sharing info, because holy shit some of those are so convoluted to get right and knowing what does or doesn't lock me out of future things is important to me

Saying there's a wrong way to do any of that is dumb IMO

As someone who did DS1 for the first time and DS3 again after Elden Ring, some get a lot easier (like all of DS1) and some are still difficult

The first Nioh is the game that's been kinda kicking my ass on difficulty at times

I know that I CAN grind which probably helps but some of the bosses feel brutal, I haven't revisited it in a while though, maybe one of these days but I think I might skip it and come back after Nioh 2 and Wo Long

Sekiro was my first FromSoft (outside of Armored Core) and while I thought it was difficult for sure it never felt insurmountable

I think it's the best one apart from ER but it's MADDENINGLY difficult at times -- and no coop either

Sekiro and DS3 remain my favorites

Elden Ring close behind and then Bloodborne IMO

    Still need to finish DS2

  10. I've played a few metroidvanias that are described as souls-like because of their difficulty; I don't think Hollow Knight ever locks you out of anything just because you missed something earlier

As someone working through Hollow Knight right now that's very comforting to know

There aren't many lockouts in Souls games but there are definitely some

Summoning is a fundamental part of Souls games, people that disagree with that really do not get it

its weird, imo the very best parts of elden ring are the dungeons that are laid out like souls. and as a result its like souls is distilled more focused elden ring. pretty sure i prefer the souls style levels but elden ring also scratches some other itches for me. its worth all the hype. i do hope they can make a sequel more densely packed. maybe also some more varied assets for the small locations.

Far Cry 4 is weird. It was one of the first games I bought for the Xbox One and I had the same problem. My achievement list on that game features dates 8 years apart. I could never get past the first few hours of the game until recently when I tried playing it for the 5th time. It finally clicked for me and I spent an ungodly amount of time in that world despite the fact that its story is only 15 hours long.

Anyway, Far Cry 2 is still the best one by far in my opinion. Turning the music off and the ambience of Africa becomes transcendent. It's also a far more emergent game than the rest. I never really understood the love for Far Cry 3 because its setting is so boring. Africa, Kyrat, and Montana are far more fun places to explore.

Elden ring was my first souls game and I didn’t really have many problems with it in terms of difficulty. Only a few bosses had me throwing myself at a wall and even then you can just go grind to be OP. I found sekiro and ds3 to be much harder and dark souls remastered was the hardest of all for really tedious reasons like clunky controls and ungodly run backs.

Far Cry 4 is by far the best game in the series

I agree, everything that’s great about the series in one game. Plus combat elephants are amazing.

  18. just wanted to mention that there are a couple of things you must do prior to the final boss if you want to unlock the true ending. if you defeat the boss and haven't done those things, you'll only get the regular/bad ending.

I like Far Cry 5 the most because it's just dumb fun. The other ones were just trying to be so serious.

I gotcha, I think as long as I am capable of fighting everything in a playthrough I'm happy, I just don't want a situation like Sekiro where missing a couple eavesdrops might lock me out of an entire boss haha

I keep using TLOU controls while playing Ghost of Tsushima. I've jumped off my horse while galloping at full speed like 10 times in a 2 minute period. As someone who doesn't game too frequently, that transition between games fucks with me.

  22. But can't you beat the boss, do that other stuff, then beat the boss again?

Excellent story, great villain, superb gun play, best map and setting in the series, it’s got it all. I enjoyed 3 and 5 a lot as well but 4 is the cream of the crop. I haven’t played 6 or Primal yet but I do own both.
