I haven't played two out of the 6 (I will get to one) but Elden Ring should make a clean sweep this year.

It really is one of the best games to come out in some time.

  10. Finished! Amazing stuff. Least exciting metroidvania I've played, but like, in the best way.
Apparently I got a hidden ending without knowing it haha

idk how I'd rank the metroidvanias I've played, they're all excellent in different ways
    Most challenging/most rewarding: Hollow Knight
Most likely to make me cry: Ori 1&2
Most likely to make me laugh: Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
    Most unique art style: 8Doors
    Best atmosphere/music: Ghost Song
    Best progression/weapons/mechanics/etc.: Bloodstained
(3d honorable mentions: Prey, Darksiders 3)

bahaha I still haven't played any Metroid or Castlevania

  11. I'm in a list-making mood, so here's some more notable 2d games I like

Most likely to make me cry: Child of Light, Spiritfarer
    Comfort game: Unpacking, Gris, Hue
    Supergiant: Transistor, Hades
    Playdead: Limbo, Inside
Isometric action-platformer: Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris/Guardian of Light, Darksiders: Genesis
Rogue: Dead Cells, Dandy Ace, Slay the Spire, Monster Train, Dicey Dungeouns

I think my favorite comfort game is Super Mario RPG because the whole game seems so cozy and you can just enjoy the characters and the world without having to think.

Comfort games for me are 100% Shoot m’ Ups. Give me something mindless while I jam a good album or podcast.

Ragnarok looks great. Im playing on PS5 favoring performance and the colors and sets are fantastic. I'd say it is a pretty perfect sequel. Takes the foundations on what was started and adds significantly on top. It was clear they had a lot more time to add in plenty of fun extras since the main combat system is essentially the same, there is just so so much more of it.

    "Dustin’s correct" - Randall Supporter

I'm more comforted by the flow of a game than anything so my 2 comfort games sound weird to call comfort games but they're Celeste and Sekiro. Both just feel so nice to play that even in times I struggle with em (mainly Celeste) I find solace in the way playing em makes me feel

There's an old schmup called Tyrian (later rereleased as Tyrian 2000) and I really loved how that game felt. It definitely had a chill out to some music and just play kind of vibe to it.

I wish someone would buy the rights to it and rerelease it on Switch or something.

I’m sure you all are sick of me talking about it but Vampire Survivors scratches the shmup itch when you get it going. Straight up madness.

Also: I’m putting the game on hold for for a bit as a level I unlocked won’t show I did. After some research I found out there are quite a few glitches in the game and they are going to patch it any day now.

So far, I have unlocked 50 of the 140 achievements.

It is the year 2022, and I have purchased The Oregon Trail for $29.99. And I'm fuckin' stoked about it!

I double-checked, and there is indeed an achievement for dying from dysentery. As God intended.
