Played 1 and 2, and yeah disco is pretty fair as a comp. For what it’s worth the vibe of citizen sleeper is more getting by when the pressure of living is hard vs. disco’s trying to get by in spite of yourself. It’s also just a bunch of text and reading.

Wholly recommend Citizen Sleeper. 1 feels like it’s a difficult resource management thing, but the game is forgiving enough that outright failing is pretty hard. 2 really refines resource management with just enough pressure to create moments that feel are genuinely desperate struggles to do succeed against the odds. Both a good about evoking the feeling of working on a knife edge where failure kicks off a downward spiral and staying above water is rough.

The stories rule though. Prose are great in both of them, and they do a lot with Sci Fi themes of being a “person” where everything about you is artificial and the lives a machines/programs. It’s cyberpunk-y but more Blade Runner than 2099. The heart of the first felt like a story of being a refugee, and the second felt like it was about dealing with losing yourself. Something in the second game shook me for reasons I’m still trying to articulate.

 

Bought 2 but haven’t played it yet.

 

Beat Alan Wake 2. Yeah I think compared to SH2 this was the superior horror game. Better puzzles. Better jump scares. I think I cared more for SH2's foggy zones compared to the constant pitch black of AW2 but it definitely ADDED to the horror and kept me on my edge. I'm not gonna download the DLC so I'll just YouTube a recap but I really enjoyed this and can't wait to see what's next in AW3/Control 2.

hit the point of no return in avowed. there have been quite a few important decisions made in this last little stretch of game and I feel a big one coming up for the finale. feel like the people saying the story and characters were weak are insane

 

I’m starting to think the new Tony Hawk stuff might really be DLC after all. I would fit the rumour that Activision had problems finding someone to make a new one because they dismantled the team. It’s a lot easier to make new maps and skaters for the other game than to once again make a game that feels as good. Plus the 1+2 remake already included the mechanics from 3 and 4. So I wouldn’t even be mad.

 

Might cop Wilds this weekend. Gonna be a tough playing schedule tho cuz tonight my son has baseball practice and then tomorrow Deftones.

 

Monster Hunter Wilds has 1.27 million concurrent players on Steam. Good God.

 

Already has the 6th highest concurrent peak of any Steam game ever lmao

and that’s just gonna keep going up throughout the weekend

 

Finished FF7-Remake and holy cow it’s fantastic. Loved the layers to the end and it unsurprisingly speaks to the Kingdom Hearts lover in me. On to Interchange and then Rebirth.

 

all the while running like dogshit on even the most high end of systems. lol

Appreciate the detailed thoughts. I said in another post that I was pretty much a one note gamer playing the big linear cinematic AAA games and I'm appreciating the art and stories in the indies at the moment and this is the latest on my radar. You've convinced me to give it a try.
