I just want someone to make a freaking MGS 1 and 2 remake. Idk who can handle that job, but I want it. Wish it could be with Kojima though. I think the best news I could hear would be that Kojima somehow bought the rights from Konami.

Remakes are weird. Successful games like MGS shouldn't ever get remakes, only re-releases if they're stuck on older platforms. It's the flawed or underplayed games that should get remakes. It should be their second chance. The issue is that because video games are a business, the successful games are the ones most likely to get remade. I'd rather get a remake of something like Panzer Dragoon Saga than anything like MGS.

 

I took it as they're moving onto a "new project" not as they're moving into make a "new original game based on a konami IP". I guess we'll see! I just saw Project G and my mind instantly went to Gillespie, which would be a perfect code name for SH1.

Couldn’t disagree with you more on this. As someone who was an extremely casual gamer until I was just out of a high school, a little more than a decade ago, there are countless classics that I missed out on or that younger generations missed out on that totally deserve remakes. Like it or not, the “old game is old” rhetoric overwhelming prevails and even if those classics get ports/remasters for modern platforms they’re only going to hit a very niche audience.

If you love a game and think as many people as possible deserve to be exposed to it, why would you fight against a remake? They should be celebrated, as long as they’re approached in good faith and maintain the same spirit as the original. I think twenty years is a good amount of time for a game to get it’s refresh, the likes of FF7, SH2, MGS series all feel like appropriate times to get remakes.

 

FF7 is a retelling as much as a remake, I don't feel like you're getting the original FF7 game in a modern way as much as it is its own beast
